Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted Wednesday at 10:59 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:59 PM Not that the 98th game of the season really the start of the second half, but hopefully it's a restart of something. This game was moved up from Friday to Thursday so as to give ESPN a stand-alone game because they really, really wanted one. Actually I suspect it's so most of their employees (y'know, aside from the few baseball guys who remain at the station) can spend an extra day in Las Vegas following the ESPY awards tonight [aka: the Four Letter Network's annual salute to themselves] And, btw, who but ESPN would have an hour long preview show for themselves. What do they do in that, ask each anchor who he's wearing? Ask them to twirl on the red carpet while wondering if that's his wife or daughter on his arm? Christian Scott faces Aaron Nola who is basically their only pitcher NOT having a good season. Of course that didn't stop him from holding us to two earned over five back in mid-June, although the Mets later tallied three runs in the 8th to win the game 6-4. So perhaps it's better to say that he's having a rough go of it this season against Good teams. So it's Thursday at 7:10 exclusively on ESPN, followed by an off day Friday, then Saturday at 4:05 and Sunday at 1:35, both on SNY
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted Wednesday at 11:08 PM Posted Wednesday at 11:08 PM I'm surprised ESPN didn't cut the Espy's from the budget at this point
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted Thursday at 12:08 AM Posted Thursday at 12:08 AM 50-15 starts NOW. Centerfield 1
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted Thursday at 12:30 AM Author Posted Thursday at 12:30 AM I remember when we used to talk about the post-ASG Wednesday as the longest day of the year as there was no baseball scheduled and that was before they made it even longer by making the break a four-day affair. And now, when we get a break by being in the one game that only takes a three day break, I find myself feeling like the break this year wasn't nearly long enough.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted Thursday at 10:24 PM Posted Thursday at 10:24 PM I just came inside after being out for an hour. I smell like a wildfire and my clothes went directly into the washer
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted Thursday at 11:07 PM Posted Thursday at 11:07 PM Christian Scott looks great. Untouched through three Let's see how his pitch count is managed
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted Thursday at 11:18 PM Posted Thursday at 11:18 PM I was bamboozled, I didn't know they changed the game time. whippoorwill 1
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted Thursday at 11:23 PM Posted Thursday at 11:23 PM Bases loaded, no out. How will they avoid scoring? whippoorwill 1
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted Thursday at 11:23 PM Author Posted Thursday at 11:23 PM The Philly pitching came out for a mound visit and he looks like he's wearing pajamas.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted Thursday at 11:25 PM Posted Thursday at 11:25 PM Ewing was Vientosesque with that gidp
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted Thursday at 11:27 PM Author Posted Thursday at 11:27 PM All those who bet the 'Under' on runs scored once the Mets had bases loaded/none out please come up to collect your winnings. The O/U was 1.5
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted Thursday at 11:29 PM Posted Thursday at 11:29 PM I really really don't care for Bo Bichette
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted Thursday at 11:34 PM Posted Thursday at 11:34 PM I miss Pete Alonso going into the stretch and keeling over for the out Pete Alonso! Pete Alonso!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted Thursday at 11:35 PM Author Posted Thursday at 11:35 PM Out of challenges by the bottom of the 5th
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted Thursday at 11:39 PM Posted Thursday at 11:39 PM It's hard to reign in batters from challenging at less than optimal situations The adrenaline is so high that only a hefty fine might discourage it And there you go....
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted Thursday at 11:45 PM Author Posted Thursday at 11:45 PM Nine baserunners thru six [4 hits, 4 walks, 1 error] but the only one to score had to drive himself in.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted Thursday at 11:53 PM Posted Thursday at 11:53 PM Aaron Nola was totally let off the hook tonight and it will cost the Mets this game
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted Thursday at 11:54 PM Posted Thursday at 11:54 PM I know the air quality is bad but Scott pulled at 79 pitches? Baseball 2026 ughh

Now 6 hits + 4 walks + an error ... and all three who scored had to drive themselves in.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 12:06 AM Posted yesterday at 12:06 AM The bottom of the order got sick of loading the bases and getting stranded, so they said, "Eff you guys at the top of the order — we're gonna hit a bunch of solo homers."
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 12:19 AM Posted yesterday at 12:19 AM I'll be mad if we trade Alvarez.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 12:19 AM Posted yesterday at 12:19 AM Don't agree with pulling Scott, but, you know, Harper is Harper. Don't agree with pulling Raley. And if this is all a setup to get Williams out there in the ninth, I don't agree with that either.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 12:30 AM Posted yesterday at 12:30 AM Whoah! An earned run against Weaver!
