Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Blame that Ewing K on Polanco's early (and ill-advised) challenge.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 9 Posted July 9 OK, bottom 8 so we've got two remaining ABs to their one. Gotta take advantage of the HF advantage.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Soto's got that home run look in his eye. I'm thinking a home run right now.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 9 Author Posted July 9 Soto jogging down the line bites him in the face.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 9 Author Posted July 9 Well, we've got a guy all the way to second for Polanco with two outs.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Things are happening! This Caglianone fella doesn't seem very good at defense.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 9 Posted July 9 A bases-loaded HBP ... our favorite scoring play!!!!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 9 Posted July 9 This whole inning starts with two outs and no one on. That's the kind of thing that happens TO us this year, not by us.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Ewing is, like, good! And at the risk of being grossly premature based on recent results only (really the only results we have), he might be special good. Centerfield 1
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Man, I know Benge was the big prospect off the bat because he made the Opening Day roster, but Ewing I think is the one that's gonna be something super special. He's pretty awesome.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 9 Author Posted July 9 It might take another hit for me to feel OK with introducing Xzavion Curry in the ninth.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Xzavion sounds like a planet on Star Trek, or a prescription medicine for hemorrhoids.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 9 Author Posted July 9 He's got some sweet vertical break on his hammer.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 9 Posted July 9 If Curry pitches a scoreless inning, that'll earn him a one-way trip back to Syracuse so he can be replaced by someone with a 7.50 ERA.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 9 Author Posted July 9 Remember, that's 36 Scrabble points on the mound right now.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Well, he allowed a run, saving himself for another day.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 9 Author Posted July 9 A delicious plate of xzavion curry for everybody!
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Books it in the put, he struck out superstar Bobby Witt Jr. to finish it. Gotta feel pretty good to do that.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Except that he's been in the majors since 2022 and has already struck Witt out once. Edgy MD 1
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 9 Author Posted July 9 Xzavion Curry would be tasty over a nice fluffy bed of Scott Rice. If it's too spicy, you can wash it down with a cool bottle of Zach Pop.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 9 Posted July 9 I mean, duh. He's struck out lots of people. But to return to the majors and end your very first game back by striking out Witt has to feel pretty good. I don't see the need to nitpick that but, you do you fam.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Game was kinda boring. The Ewing HR was a nice way to start. But the offense going to sleep against Dobnak or whatever his name is was mind numbing. Glad we broke out in the end. It 100% felt like a loss just waiting to happen.
