Jorge Polanco activated

Well, ain't this a blast from the past. Jorge Polanco, who hasn't appeared in a game for the Mets since April 14, has been activated from the injured list, with Alex Carrillo being designated for assignment to make room for him on the 40-man and Ronny Mauricio being demoted to make room for him on the active roster. Polanco was one of the big names brought aboard to help bolster the club in 2026, however he was ineffective in his brief stint before getting hurt, hitting just .179 with a homer and two ribbies in 56 at-bats. However, he is an established veteran, so I can't imagine he won't be of some benefit to the club.

That's great news. Now I won't have to watch him when I see Binghamton (where he had been  rehabbing) play at Hartford this weekend. I like to see the kids rather than guys on injury rehab assignment.

He was with Syracuse.

Last time I checked he was with Bingy, where he had played 3 games and gone 2-5 with a homer.

The Mets lineup is essentially full strength -- not Semien or Robert, but it's really not clear that those two could outhit their replacements anyway.  I think how the team hits over the next couple of weeks will influence how the team handles the deadline.  Not that they're likely to be buyers by any stretch, but just getting a sense of who are guys you can win with in 2027.

Polanco looked pretty good last night. He's arriving in time for Jared Young's inevitable decline phase

Young held up better, longer than I'd think a mediocre Quadruple-A player could, but I'm glad we have another actual established major leaguer back. Now we just wait for the departure of Wagaman.

The problem with Jorge remains that he's limited to DH-ing, quite possibly for the rest of the year, and so will be taking as many plate appearances away from Alvarez as he'll is taking from Young.

We're still going to be seeing a lot of Youngstown.
