MELENDEZ FINALLY OPTIONED

Boy genius David Stearns loves using options for everyone else, but for whatever reason he kept Melendez on the roster, despite Melendez hitting .143 since May 1 -- a span of 91 at-bats. Granted, Stearns usually options people when they're doing well, but regardless, keeping Melendez around as long as he did is one of the most egregious examples of the mismanagement this team has experienced this season. Do you think since Stearns is young and cocky, he sticks with decisions longer than he should, even if they're clearly wrong or bad, because to do otherwise would mean he's wrong and admitting being wrong would bruise his very cocky ego? I think so.

The saddest part of that is the comment "one of the most egregious examples of the mismanagement". That means there have been others.

I agree its long since time to have tried someone else but keep in mind Young and Wagaman are already here and Morabito looked worse than MJ on his worst day.

I will also say that I liked Melendez as a guy. Like, he was genuine and professional like Semien, whatever the results.
