Edgy MD Site Manager Posted Tuesday at 01:33 AM Posted Tuesday at 01:33 AM This may be the strandiest shutout game in Mets history.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted Tuesday at 01:53 AM Posted Tuesday at 01:53 AM Indeed, the Reds have used four pitchers to the Mets three, as David Peterboro is on to finish the eighth, robbing the world of a Luis Torrens mound appearance.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted Tuesday at 01:55 AM Posted Tuesday at 01:55 AM It would be a good night to get McLean a trip to the plate.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted Tuesday at 02:01 AM Posted Tuesday at 02:01 AM The schedule is tightening. There really isn't room to lose 7 of 10 or something anymore

The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted Tuesday at 05:27 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:27 PM The difference in this game is a microcosm of the Mets season. The Reds with bases loaded draw a run scoring walk followed by a grand slam. The Mets managed to load the bases on three occasions and not surprisingly failed to score. The first time the Mets loaded the bases they produced an infield fly rule pop up to the shortstop followed by a strike out on a slider in the dirt to end the inning. The next inning the Mets again have bases loaded with one out and they foul out to first baseman and fly out to right center to again leave the bases loaded. But wait, there's more, they loaded the bases for a third time with one out, then proceed to strike out and hit a weak dribbler to second base to end yet another pathetically inept display of offensive futility. The Mets were 1-12 in RISP and even one hit, Bichette's clean single to left center did not score a run because Melendez paused half way to third base to watch the ball in the outfield. Absolutely horrible, clueless base running which cost him a base and prevented him from scoring. It is the continuous mental errors and bad fundamentals that make this team very difficult for me to watch.
