Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 Following yesterday's hard-fought win, Nolan McLean is back on the bump for the Mets, looking for his fourth win in as many Major League starts. Tigers are sending out Sawyer Gipson-Long, who I confess not knowing much about until looking it up today. First, his actual first name is Alec, so he parts his name on the left. The 27-year-old Georgian has appeared in six games, with 25 innings, 20 strikeouts and a 4.32 ERA. I go to Comerica two or three times a year. Yesterday was my third time this season. The concourses are dark and crowded when there is a good crowd. The food is very basic and not worth waiting in line for two innings. I don't like that they feel the need to use the "Make some noise" graphic throughout the game. The Tigers used to take the field to "Detroit Rock City," which was cool. But not in the last couple seasons. The marketing staff is really nice and we've been working on some partnerships. The large tiger sculptures are fun to pose with.Jesse Winker will not be in this game or any other this season, according to Mendoza.Things I did not realize until today: The save was Edwin Diaz's 250th, at last according to the Topps Now card I just bought!Mets:1: Lindor, SS2: Soto, RF3: Alonso, 1B4: Nimmo, LF5: Swaggy V, 3B6: McNeil, DH7: Mullins, CF8: Torrens, C9: Baty, 2BTigers1: Colt Keith, DH2: Gleyber Torres, 2B3: Kerry Carpenter, RF4: Riley Greene, LF5: Spencer Torkelson, 1B6: Wenceel Perez, CF7: Zach McKinstry, 3B8: Dillon Dingler, C9: Trey Sweeney, SSJahmai Jones sits after yesterday hitting the first pitch he saw practically into Windsor, Canada, which Journey thinks is "South Detroit," followed by a hard double and two RBI.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 Good luck Nolan "Cinderella" McLean
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 Magic number for that third Wild Card spot is 21. It's 31 for the #1 spot in the division. It's 27 for that #2 spot in the Wild Card race.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2025 Author Posted September 2, 2025 Walks kill.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 McLean not looking as sharp. Hopefully he can gut it through. Seems like the Tigers are laying off the off speed pitches. Tigers pitcher is breezing.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 Now looking sharp!Like that he went to his fastball more. Let's get him a lead. Soto leading off.
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 Injuries all equal, why play Squirrel at DH? Much better defense to put him at 2b, Baty at 3b, and Vientos at DH, no? Is McNeil hurt or something?
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 Tong Torontonial!;!Irrelevant to today's game, but true nonetheless.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2025 Author Posted September 2, 2025 Torrens had three hits yesterday. Been hitting well!
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 He's saying, "Francisco who?"Well, maybe notLater
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 Reds are down 10-6 in the 4th.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 Sorry to be late to the show. We eat late in my home.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 Can't be leaving too many runners in scoring position, boys. 9 outs to get and the bullpen remains flammable.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 Our nightly Soto blow is now on file.
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 Yet another Goddamned bases-empty HR by that worthless Soto!!!!
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 The Tigers are falling apart!
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 I guess the solution is to just score yourself direcly.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 The Tigers should blame this inning on themselves for calling for a review on that bullshit catcher's interference claim.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2025 Author Posted September 2, 2025 McNeil adds to it! 10-8!

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 Mullins: "They're pinch running Acuña for Vientos, Jeff."McNeil: "Well, it's good to see somebody get lifted for defense besides me."Mullins: "That's because you're the DH tonight, Jeff."McNeil: "Grrr ..."
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 Time was, a manager would be committed to a mental institution for even considering removing McLean from the game at this point.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 Kinda heard Gary mention something about it but I remember hating Paddack as a Padre. I think he did something dickheady. Nice to see him get knocked around.
