Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 23, 2025 Posted August 23, 2025 You bring in Lee to face the big lefty in Soto, and he walks Soto and gets teed off of by three different righthanded hitters.THAT is the way it is supposed to work.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2025 Posted August 23, 2025 It's been a week since Diaz had that 6-out save and he hasn't pitched since. Might be seeing him tonight no matter the score.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2025 Posted August 23, 2025 Something not really game related but just a point about the Braves in general. They've been praised for their locking up young players to pre-arb and therefore team friendly contracts [Albies, Acuna, Riley, Harris] and rightfully so for the most part. But is the worm starting to turn?- The team has options on Albies for each of the next two seasons, but he's produced just one 100+ OPS+ in the last four seasons and is in the midst of the worst season of his career [OPS+ = 78]. At this point it's not clear if his option will even be picked up.- Austin Riley [signed thru 2033 has just been shut down for the season and has seen his OPS/OPS+ heading south for four straight years [140, 130, 115, 105].He also has been available for about 2/3 of the games in '24-'25 [212 of 324] following three straight Top-10 MVPs. The adage of the 'Best ability is often avail-ability' comes into play here.- Michael Harris was RoY despite spending about a half hour in both AA & AAA. But his OPS/OPS+ has gone down in each of his four season [133, 116, 99, 93] and he's had to put on a furious run lately just to get his current number to 93. He's signed thru 2032 although the club has '31 & '32 options. Is he going to be a net plus moving forward?- and while Acuna is obviously elite, elite doesn't help you if it's not on the field. This is his 8th season and 2019 & 2023 are his only full seasons. So in 2020 - '22 plus '24-'25 he's played a shade over half the time (53%). Signed thru 2028 with team options in '27 & '28
