MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 How about ridin' that Soto pony for a while?Later
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 It feels like there is too much game left for the Mets to me
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 16, 2025 Author Posted August 16, 2025 They're sticking with Woo through 100 pitches.IT CAN BE DONE!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 16, 2025 Author Posted August 16, 2025 Good to see Soto back out there.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 Well, at least one of our Sotos is having a good day.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 16, 2025 Author Posted August 16, 2025 Tough to see Acuña in the dugout when we need to steal a run, but can't use him.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 Needles to say, this would be a really nice spot for Soto to drive in someone other than himself for the first time in .... I dunno, a coupla months?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 16, 2025 Author Posted August 16, 2025 Got another run.Now we have to believe in Diaz for two.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 16, 2025 Author Posted August 16, 2025 Bad send, Sarbaugh.Out by something mile-like.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 16, 2025 Author Posted August 16, 2025 OK, Diaz got the last out. Game over, right?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 A 14-pitch inning certainly invites sending him out for the 9th.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 16, 2025 Author Posted August 16, 2025 If Diaz has any trouble in the ninth, go to Jason!
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 I hope we win. What the hell is Mendoza doing, arguing about the lights and icing his own closer
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 Naylor kept trying to hit that elusive 3R bases-empty HR
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 16, 2025 Author Posted August 16, 2025 Running out of gas is Diaz.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 More in portent than the Wbigger than 5-1/3 scoreless by the rookie in his ML debutbetter still than 3-2/3 1R/2H from the pen ...There Were FIVE pitcher assists in the game!!!!!
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 I don't know about you, but I'm in favor of giving McLean another start.Mets video team did a nice job showing him in the dugout for a second big ovation.Crowd heavily booing Mendoza when he came out to take McLean out was well done.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 Yeah, I can't say I was in favor of the hook either. It seemed like something pre-ordained, like they made up their minds to pull him once the lineup got to the lefty-swinging power bat of Naylor.I wonder whose call that was and how far in advance it was made.In the early days of the two-point conversion there'd be NFL coaches queried after the game about why they did or didn't go for two in a particular situation and the inevitable answer would be something along the lines of 'Because my card said to go for it when we were ahead/behind by X' ... as if every game with the same score was to be treated identically. I'd hate to think of baseball turning to where no leeway is allowed for deviation from a predetermined strategy due to conditions beyond just the raw inning/outs/score data.

I am usually aggressive with my sends but I was throwing up the stop sign hard.* In fairness, we had a better angle than Sarbaugh.
