Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 I'm not watching. After last-night's hara-kiri, I need a break. Maybe a couple of hours of airline crashes or a Kevin Sorbo film festival. Anything else but these misbegotten imposters in baseball uniforms.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 It has been raining Olsons and Rileys down the interstate here in Baltimore.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 There should be a game where you guess the starter meltdown inning. There's been one almost every game over the last two weeks or more.Last night Peterson faced one over the minimum thru 2. Then had a bit of trouble in the 3rd but it was really just two seeing eye hits (one in the IF) and a walk pitching carefully to Ozuna w/two on before getting the much weaker hitting Albies to ground out. So 0 runs, 3 singles, 1 walk thru 3 innings on 13, 14, and 24 pitches. Not great, but hardly terrible. He then faced seven batters in the 4th retiring One of them: BB, 1B, K, BB, BB/Run, 3-RBI-2B, BB ... and he was gone. That his immediate replacement was just as bad only added to it. All of which leaves Paul Blackburn's 5 IP/1 H/1 BB/3-K performance as the pitching hi-light of the night.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 Isn't it always the 4th inning?
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2025 Author Posted August 14, 2025 Second time through the order?(ducking)Later
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2025 Author Posted August 14, 2025 46 Pitches through 3 innings for Senga. Later

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 Well, they get the lead. It should have been two, but for the double-play that preceded the homer.Manny Trillo, by the way, lives the quiet life in the Orlando area, Keith. That is, unless the president has deported him.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 One run given up in the fourth, progress1-1
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 Yeah, maybe that one-run fourth was the meltdown inning. And maybe it is smooth sailing from here.Maybe.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 I thought the Mets would get to Elder but not yet
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 I like Keef calling the ghost forkball "Casper."
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 Not liking Mullins not going harder after that ball as Baldwin went first-to-third without a throw.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 Why wouldn't they make him bat right-handed?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 I am Bryce Elder, and I am not this good.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 Helsley hasn't earned that entrance as a Met
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 Anytime you want to retire a batter, Helsley, we'd really 'preciate it.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 That "Hell's Bells" entrance really felt like they were overselling the dude.Just enter to "We've Got Tonight" or something, guys. Promise low, deliver big.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2025 Author Posted August 14, 2025 This is the second straight night they've faced a starter who came into the game with an ERA over 6.00, and as of now, they could lose both of them.Later
