The Mets have not remotely resembled a playoff team for the past month (or more). A flail and fail offense, inconsistent defense, and unreliable pitching (starters more so than relievers) is not what championship teams are made of. At least they are good at base stealing (91 of 101) on the season. Too bad they can't steal first.

Through 11 NYM batters today, Luis Torrens' FO to CF stands as their only ball hit out of the IF.

Add that to the final 15 batters from last night and it's 24 straight PAs with no hits, 3 BBs, and two balls leaving the IF

I find that the more perfect your offense forces your pitcher to be, the more prone he is to a big burning.

Pwterson didn't give up many hits, but most of them were big ones. 2 Home runs and a triple in the 5 hits he allowed.
