ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 The Mets won 6 in a row in early Junish and then went into a June swoonThey just won 7 in a row and are swooning again and would the baseball Gods cut this swoon shortCedric Mullins makes his debut
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Both teams called the Polo Grounds their home.Kai-Wei Teng 0-0Kodai Senga 7-3 2.00Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Looking at this Teng guy's numbers at AAA this season, he didn't give up many hits/inning (39 in 54 IP) but also walked a bunch (21)He's been state-side since 2018 although prior to this season he hasn't had a lot of success aside from some early years in A-ball.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Guess we are looking at a reasonable chance that the team home run mark is equaled or exceeded during this homestand.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Senga seems deathly afraid of pitching to Chapman since serving up two HRs to him in the game last week in SF.He walked him twice today and both looked to be semi-intentional. He did it the second time with two outs and none on and got burned by it.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 How did Schmitt not get to that Nimmo grounder? It looked like Mike Schmidt would be able to get to it.Let us hear it for the squeeze!

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Yes, but it's even worse when it's self-inflicted.Meanwhile, another day, another four innings from the starter.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Yeah, but this is the post-deadline deep-bullpen Mets.No Alex Carrillo expected. For whatever that may be worth.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Dom still looks like he carries around a lot of depression.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Keith Hernandez had 10 sacrifice hits, two with the Mets.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Another hit gets past Schmitt.Difference maker.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Hey! Tyler Rogers is on our side now!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Mullins HBPHe's a 'True Met' now.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 I thought the scoreboard wouldn't be able to handle 10 runs. That's a hard one to anticipate.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Tigers win! It's starting to smell like 1st place around here.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 That's the best double dive in sports since Sonny Liston.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Phillies lost, so first place is within the Mets' grasp.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 He almost stranded the leadoff triple.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Nice to get the win and not have to use either of our closers.Something is wrong with Senga; he's not throwing strikes and he throws the ghost fork so much that they're laying off it, because it's almost never a strike if you don't swing.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Mets end a losing streak, move back into first, use six pitchers, but keep Diaz, Stanek, and Helsley in reserve for tomorrow.A winning day.
