The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 Wow. The Angels play defense worse than a good high school team. The Mets need to take advantage of the Angels porous defense (like last night).
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 Elvis Costello turns out to be partially correct as only some of the Angels are wearing red shoes.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 Lindor should change his music to "Crazy Train" or something
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 22, 2025 Author Posted July 22, 2025 A funny inning, in that the threat was entirely brought to you by the Angels, with two errors, a wild pitch, and a free pass.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 Well, that sucked. Chance to blow the game open with the top of the order coming up and Nimmo strikes out, Lindor strikes out, intentional walk of Soto, then Alonso strikes out. Put a ball in play and let the Angels defense have a chance to botch the play so you can score.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 Baty (thankfully) with the nice "look what I found" play on a hot smash by Soler for the third out.
Bob Alpacadaca Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 Stranding so many runners….
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 22, 2025 Author Posted July 22, 2025 Props to Álvarez, but he got the post-game interview last night. I wanted to hear from Stanek tonight.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 Nice win but again with stranding runners. I'll be going to the matinee tomorrow with Mrs Lefty and I would appreciate an 8-0 laugher please.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2025 Posted July 23, 2025 THoUgHTs on THE gAmE!!!!1Played a lot of Ozzy between innings.Weather couldn't have been better. Breezy and not too hot.Underrated moment for the Mets was my taking over the Tuesday Night Mets scorebook during a 5th inning bathroom break. An Angels fan sat to my left and I don't think I'd ever met an actual Angels fan before in my life. Do you personally know any Angels fans? I know Giants, A's, Dodgers and Padres fans irl. Anyway nice enough guy. He knew it was only a matter of time.Wasn't the regular guys in front of us this time and led to all sorts of wrong-seat shenanigans that were distracting and I felt like interfered with the vibes of the first three innings and probably why were were practically no-hit.I knew Kyle Hendricks was a starting pitcher and been around for a while but completely forgot what team he played for. I thought the Rockies, nope he was a Cub for like 12 years. Is there a more anonymous starting pitcher with his service time? I liked his slow and slower repertoire and almost felt bad for how suddenly it failed him. That's what Alvarez is for. I was glad to see he didn't pimp it out of the box.2nd night in a row the middle innings bullpen worked out. Frankie was lucky.2nd time in a row the 7 Super Express missed the 74th street station, requiring me to depart at Woodside and take a local 7 back there. I detest going the wrong direction when I'm going somewhere so even though the transfers mostly worked out it was stressful.Nice convo on the R platform with an elderly MTA worker who really loved the 86 Mets. He was like "Tim Teufel!" and I said "Kevin Mitchell" and he said "Ron Darling" until we basically completed the roster.oh, and the joint was absolutely packed. Even those high sets in left center were filled

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 23, 2025 Author Posted July 23, 2025 Sounds like a great night at the ballpark. No, I don't know any Angels fans (unless you count Gene Autry), and while I probably would have mentioned the Cubs if you put a gun to my head and asked me about Kyle Hendricks, I'd not have guessed he would have been with them exclusively for a dozen years.I figure guys name Kyle sooner or later end up with the Kardinals, or with the Astros in the American league. Its, like, gravity.
