Paul Blackburn (shoulder impingement) and Dedniel Nunez (right elbow sprain) to the IL

These injuries, along with the demotion of Blade Tidwell after his 80 pitches on Wednesday, lead to the latest round of reliever roulette: called up for today are right-handers

Justin Warren, Rico Garcia, and Justin Hagenman. Hagenman could start the game in the Bronx on Friday as that was Blackburn's turn in the rotation. The Mets will also need

a starter for Sunday's game as the rain pushed Clay Homes's start ahead one day so he won't have the proper rest.

I believe this pushes the number of pitchers this year to 87 but I'm going to have to double check that before making a definitive statement on the matter.

Nunez is going to be one of those fellows who spends a few years in NY, puts up good numbers, and people 30 years later say "why didn't he pitch more?"...and it was because he kept getting hurt.

Maybe, and I was being a tad facetious. I mean bye

bye means bye bye or like sayonara...

Lol, I thought this was going to be a DFA post.

Same here

They said on today's pregame that the Mets don't know who their starting pitcher will be in games one and three against the skanks

Which is why it's stupid to root for injuries or DFAs until you've got a replacement that's a bit more specific than 'somebody out there'.

While I generally agree with this statement, Paul Blackburn might be the rare case where “somebody out there” might be better.

7.71 ERA. 1.982 WHIP.

Any more addition by subtraction and we'll have a shot at keeping the opponent under double digits.

Not mentioned anywhere that I can see, Jose Butto joins the conga line on the IL with an issue Mendoza refused to elaborate on.

As a result, someone named Chris Devenski is currently on the team.
