I never would have started this thread if I knew they were going to wear the misbegotten Friday night black unis on a Monday.

Yeah, well Frankie 'I got lit up by the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp' Montas is pitching tonight, so it might not pass just yet.

He needs to work on that nickname.

Time to dispose of Blackbum. He was a bad pitcher when the Mets got him, he was a bad pitcher for the Mets last year and he's still a bad pitcher this year. The guy has a 4.92 career ERA, 82 ERA+ and 1.419 WHIP. He's not worth giving start after start.

Is it obvious? I'll have to admit that my attention has drifted over the last ten games, but with Senga and Megill hurt, isn't Blackburn fairly likely to be one of the five starters in the rotation? There's Peterson and Holmes and Canning, and now Montas. Who ranks above Blackburn for the fifth spot? Tidwell?

This.

The Mets have been forced to dip into their depth.

He is their depth.

Manaea is one turn of the rotation from rejoining.

Not so fast, Kemo Sabe.
The Mets unfortunately got some unwelcome injury news alongside Montas' return, as the team announced they will shut down Sean Manaea for 48-72 hours after the left-hander experienced discomfort stemming from a loose body in his left elbow.
