Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2025 Posted June 23, 2025 Hey, we retired a leadoff hitter!!!
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2025 Posted June 23, 2025 Brightside: 42/3, 3 runs is about as good as we could dream for Blacky.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2025 Posted June 23, 2025 Schwellenbach pitch count creeping up. At this rate he may only go 10 or 11 innings.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2025 Posted June 23, 2025 There is absolutely no reason to start Blackburn when we have Butto. This is just a refusal to admit a wrong.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2025 Posted June 23, 2025 Soto sure do like that LCF alley. I'd swear four or five of his HRs this year have landed in the same seat.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2025 Posted June 23, 2025 Beautiful. Schwellenbach walks one and Soto makes him pay. Sometimes the hardest strike to throw is the one where you absolutely can't throw a ball.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2025 Posted June 23, 2025 I know we don't have a lot of options but my god. Stanek?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 23, 2025 Author Posted June 23, 2025 =Centerfield post_id=196075 time=1750722772 user_id=65]Blackburn is the most non-competitive pitcher I've seen pitch for us in a while. It surprised me we traded for him. It surprised me we tendered him a contract. And it depresses me he keeps pitching.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 23, 2025 Author Posted June 23, 2025 I like to see Stanek roar about that strikeout slider when the team is still down a run.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2025 Posted June 23, 2025 He had a 1.692 WHIP coming into the game. So it was more than just a lousy night. He had a 1.562 WHIP last year. So it's not like this is an aberration. There's really no excuse to start him while Butto is available.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 23, 2025 Author Posted June 23, 2025 I was certainly not suggesting it was his only bad performance. I only meant to note that he grinded enough through the appearance, leaving the team fortunate to get out of there with three scored in 4 2/3 innings. He will not be starting for a while, and probably has his continued existence on the staff in jeopardy.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 23, 2025 Author Posted June 23, 2025 Should we let Torrens lead off the next inning or try to make a table setter out of Mauricio or Jankowski?
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2025 Posted June 23, 2025 Schwellenbach out! We have a chance.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2025 Posted June 23, 2025 Surprised they pulled Schwellenbach after <90 pitches.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 23, 2025 Author Posted June 23, 2025 I am not surprised. Baseball teams be crazy that way.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2025 Posted June 23, 2025 Opportunity for a signature win right here. Opportunity for a signature moment for Juan Soto.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2025 Posted June 23, 2025 Nice job by Diaz. Still an opportunity for a signature win.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 23, 2025 Author Posted June 23, 2025 Let us now extend that Braves saveless streak.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2025 Posted June 23, 2025 Whaddayagonnado. LGM YGB yada yada yada
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2025 Posted June 23, 2025 Pete's had about 30 lousy looking ABs in a row now.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 23, 2025 Author Posted June 23, 2025 "Taylor likes the ball belt-high, middle-in."I mean, don't we all, Keith?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2025 Posted June 23, 2025 Be nice if we could beat these guys maybe once this season ... but with only ten games remaining against them I just don't see it.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2025 Posted June 23, 2025 Another terrible job by the offense. Another night where the approach won't change.
