Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2025 Posted May 7, 2025 This is the first time as a Met that Torrens has batted as high as fifth in the order. He's batted sixth five times this year and seven times last year.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2025 Posted May 7, 2025 I'd like to see everyone taking their hacks like they intend to do damage, especially Baty. Mauricio will be available soon, I assume to Syracuse for some period of time
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2025 Posted May 7, 2025 Mets team ERA is still just 2.94, only ERA below 3 in the NL now. NL league average is 4.14.Their team BA is .250, slightly better than league average. If the offense really gets cranking, this team actually could win 100+ games.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2025 Posted May 7, 2025 I want them to be aggressive, not chaseI'll take 7 runs at this pointSenga being squeezed
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2025 Posted May 7, 2025 [bIGPURPLE] LINDOR to TORRENS [/bIGPURPLE]
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2025 Posted May 7, 2025 Good News (so far): - Multiple hard-hit balls even if not always in the right places- good defenseNot so good:- Senga is wild (now 4 BBs thru 9 hitters) , and he needed almost 40 pitches to retire just four batters thru 2 (the defense retired the other two)- two leadoff doubles (2nd & 3rd) but no hits followed and only one ball out of the infield (Pete's weak FO to left w/2 outs)
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2025 Posted May 7, 2025 And now thru 3 innings Senga has retired just six hitters. So he's getting the job done but how he's doing it is hardly a recipe for success.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2025 Posted May 7, 2025 Start squeezing out strikesOr at least start squeezing out something![FIMG=300]https://media.pitchfork.com/photos/62fbd9cd9e909489fa5fb568/1:1/w_320,c_limit/Graham%20Parker%20-%20Squeezing%20Out%20Sparks.jpeg[/FIMG]
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2025 Author Posted May 7, 2025 He's thrown 51 pitches through three innings which while not great, isn't terrible - yet.Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 7, 2025 Posted May 7, 2025 Shag Crawford, referenced during the broadcast, was fired for refusing to work the World Series. It was an interesting matter of principle. The league had traditionally awarded the assignment by merit, but had switched to a rotational system, and even though the switch initially benefited him with the assignment, he apparently believed the World Series deserved the best.Any mark against him was not visited on his sons, and they both became longtime officials, with Jerry following his father as an MLB umpire, and Joey working 39 NBA seasons as a ref, including every NBA final from 1986 to 2015 (save for 2007, when he was suspended).
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 7, 2025 Posted May 7, 2025 Crappy road trip for anybody named McNeil.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2025 Author Posted May 7, 2025 He found his groove and is pitching more efficiently - 70 pitches through five innings.Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 7, 2025 Posted May 7, 2025 No excuse for Senga getting caught watching the game, but Carroll probably beats that play to the bag anyhow. But what a great stab by Alonso.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 7, 2025 Posted May 7, 2025 Let's hear it for the bottom of the lineup.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 7, 2025 Posted May 7, 2025 Well, lookie like the monkey is off McNeil's back.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2025 Posted May 7, 2025 Jeff looked like he was going to fall into third baseWell done
