Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 20, 2025 Posted April 20, 2025 The Mets, having taken the first three games of an Easter/Passover weekend, wearing three different uniforms and covered by three different TV booths, head out there looking to step up with a now-rarish four-game thundersweep of the St. Louis Cardinals. Will there be a fourth uniform? Will the announcers launch the old-school WPIX broadcast with a fourth lineup? Who knows?! But then, life is for learning!Former Yankee Clay Holmes takes the mound for the Mets and future Yankee Sonny Gray puts the ball in play for the Cards.Along with the usual Sunday lineup fun, both teams are sitting their regular thirdbaseman, but as a deferential nod to the Great Law of Conservation, the Cards are replacing theirs with another guy named Nolan.

[TH][/TH][TH][FIMG=250]https://cdn.freebiesupply.com/images/large/2x/st-louis-cardinals-logo-transparent.png[/FIMG][/TH][TH][/TH][TH][/TH][TH][FIMG=100]https://www.amny.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Ed-Kranepool-Patch.png?resize=50[/FIMG][FIMG=250]https://cdn.freebiesupply.com/images/large/2x/new-york-mets-logo-transparent.png[/FIMG][/TH][TH][/TH]

[TH]#[/TH][TH]Player[/TH][TH]Pos.[/TH][TH]#[/TH][TH]Player[/TH][TH]Pos.[/TH]

=#FEDB00]1=#C41E3A]Lars Nootbar (L)=#0C2340]lf=#FF5910]1=#002D72]Francisco Lindor (S)=#FF5910]ss

=#FEDB00]2=#C41E3A]Thomas Saggese (R)=#0C2340]ss=#FF5910]2=#002D72]Juan Soto (L)=#FF5910]rf

=#FEDB00]3=#C41E3A]Brendan Donovan (L)=#0C2340]2b=#FF5910]3=#002D72]Pete Alonso (R)=#FF5910]1b

=#FEDB00]4=#C41E3A]Willson Contreras (R)=#0C2340]dh=#FF5910]4=#002D72]Brandon Nimmo (L)=#FF5910]lf

=#FEDB00]5=#C41E3A]Alec Burleson (L)=#0C2340]1b=#FF5910]5=#002D72]Jesse Winker (L)=#FF5910]dh

=#FEDB00]6=#C41E3A]Jordan Walker (R)=#0C2340]rf=#FF5910]6=#002D72]Luisangel Acuña (R)=#FF5910]2b

=#FEDB00]7=#C41E3A]Nolan Gorman (L)=#0C2340]3b=#FF5910]7=#002D72]Brett Baty (L)=#FF5910]3b

=#FEDB00]8=#C41E3A]Pedro Pagés (R)=#0C2340]c =#FF5910]8=#002D72]Tyrone Taylor (R)=#FF5910]cf

=#FEDB00]9=#C41E3A]Victor Scott II (L)=#0C2340]cf=#FF5910]9=#002D72]Hayden Senger (R)=#FF5910]c

[TH][/TH][TH][/TH][TH][/TH][TH][/TH][TH][/TH][TH][/TH]

=#FEDB00]=#C41E3A]Sonny Gray (R)=#0C2340]sp=#FF5910]=#002D72]Clay Holmes (R)=#FF5910]sp

(Font sizes in lineup order and defensive position columns have been elevated in response to the request of d'Kong.)
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2025 Posted April 20, 2025 Is there a writer of fiction who would try getting away with naming a character "Nootbar"?
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2025 Posted April 20, 2025 Is there a writer of fiction who would try getting away with naming a character "Nootbar"?Yes.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2025 Posted April 20, 2025 There was pregame talk about the possibility of naming Lindor as the Mets CaptainI like it. I still think of captains more in the context of hockey or the mafia
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 20, 2025 Author Posted April 20, 2025 Lindor is purty close to all-time franchise shortstop status, if he hasn't achieved it already.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2025 Posted April 20, 2025 Nootbar has a poor armGreat read Tyrone
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2025 Posted April 20, 2025 Gary relates that the reason he was out Friday is because their beloved Great Dane died , 13 years old , which for a large breed is old , especially for a Dane

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2025 Posted April 20, 2025 If you could sell the Cardinals lineup by the pound you would do very well
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 20, 2025 Author Posted April 20, 2025 John Oliver just said what nobody in the booth will say. The president is looking to send Americans to foreign gulags.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2025 Posted April 20, 2025 Well doneMets on the correct side of things
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2025 Posted April 20, 2025 Pete is just possessed He could run the bases with his arms up yelling "I'm the king of the world"!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 20, 2025 Author Posted April 20, 2025 Maybe, but Lars Nootbar is my player of the game.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 20, 2025 Author Posted April 20, 2025 That is the Brandon this team is missing.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 20, 2025 Author Posted April 20, 2025 José Butto is the ball that bounces back.
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2025 Posted April 20, 2025 I'm "watching" on mlb.com gameday. How the hell did Acuna get a double out of a gb to SS?
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2025 Posted April 20, 2025 Not until now when Gary mentioned where the term "walk off" comes from did I really even think about it , it's not for the hitter , Denis Eckersly coined the term for the pitcher having to walk off after giving up the hit, and now it makes perfect sense
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
