Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2025 Posted February 28, 2025 Brad Emaus was the good get here.I remember folks being optimistic about this Rule 5 pick, although I can't specifically remember why. Maybe some publication said he had a good chance to stick or something like that. He'd wind up going 6-for-37 (all singles) as a Met before being returned, in late April, to Toronto who promptly dealt him to Colorado the next day. After a stop with Boston he wound up back in the NYM org but never played another ML game, ending his career in 2012 at age 26 with a .212/.297/.315 line @ AAA Buffalo

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2025 Author Posted February 28, 2025 Problem was that the uncovered gem infielder on that roster was Justin Turner.

batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2025 Posted February 28, 2025 Turner reinvented himself after the Mets cut ties with him. Prior to that, there was no evidence that he'd become a perennial all-star. It would've been like predicting Daniel Murphy's 2015-2018 transformation into an MVP-caliber hitter after Murph's second or third season in the majors.
