Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 The Reds jump from the NYM fire into the ATL frying pan as they are in Georgia for a one-game make-up with the Braves tonight. The Braves hop a flight to D.C. after that to start a series with the NationalsThe DiamondBacks start a series against Texas in the desert starting on TuesdayPadres head to Seattle, also starting on Tuesday, so late scores on them for the next few days.Phillies host the Rays and are currently scoreless in the 2nd inning of the opener. And we should probably mention the Cubs who are our closest pursuer (-5.0 G) start a series vs the Dodgers
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2024 Author Posted September 9, 2024 Reds beat Braves 1-0Cincy pitching: 1 run on 6 hits over their last 18 innings
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2024 Author Posted September 10, 2024 The good news for Paul Skenes is that last night he became the fourth to strike out over 150 in his rookie season. The bad news is that the first three wound up with rather short primes in their careers: Kerry Wood, Dwight Gooden, Mark Prior
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2024 Author Posted September 11, 2024 Even the Yanquis are wearing first responder hats tonight (tied w/KCR 2-2 in the 8th).I thought they were above that kind of stuff.

What about Herb Score, Pete Alexander, ... Tom Seaver, Jerry Koosman, and Jon Matlack? What about the likes of them?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2024 Author Posted September 11, 2024 Not sure. I heard that stat more than once this week.It must have had one of those 'in the last X number of years' qualifiers attached to it.In the Bronx, Yanx & Royals tied 2-2 heading for the 10th
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2024 Author Posted September 11, 2024 First two pitches of the clown car rules: SB, WP, ... Royals lead 3-2
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2024 Author Posted September 11, 2024 Yanx win in the 11th
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2024 Author Posted September 11, 2024 Padres triailing 3-0 in Seattle in top 4

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2024 Author Posted September 13, 2024 Two marquee match-ups for MLB tonight: Braves/Dodgers, Yanx/Sawx ... both on Apple+I'm sure MLB is quite happy about that. But how many eyeballs are they losing just when attention should be rising?I don't know if there are logo'd helmets in those games but yaneverknow.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2024 Author Posted September 13, 2024 Aaron Judge hadn't HR'd in 16 days except now he just hit a GS to put the Yanx up 5-4 in the 7th after they trailed 4-0 entering the inning.EGG-Zactly what you don't want to do with a lead: Walk, Walk, Single, Walk (1 R), Grand Slam (4 Runs)Still 5-2 Braves, bottom 8th

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2024 Posted September 14, 2024 Padres won but the D-Bags lost so we gained a game on them. Mets now 1.5 GB of SD, 1 GB of AZ and one up on the Bravos

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2024 Author Posted September 14, 2024 In the Yanx/Sawx game today, Gerrit Cole* opted to IW Rafael Devers with no one on and one out in the 4th inning. The move backfired as a walk, double and single followed and the Sox scored three and went on to win 7-1That Devers had been 13/39 with 8 HRs!! in his career against Cole was the source of the strategy.I still think it was a bad idea.Cole also plunked Devers in another AB which didn't make the Sox happy. Nor did the three other HBPs* or Aaron Boone but it appeared to be Cole's call
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2024 Author Posted September 14, 2024 5-1 Braves in bottom 6th ... make that 6-1On the other hand, Chris Sale looks done for the night so maybe LAD gets to the bullpen.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2024 Author Posted September 14, 2024 Still the 6th inning and now it's [CROSSOUT]9-1[/CROSSOUT] 10 - 1
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2024 Author Posted September 14, 2024 On the plus side ... the DBacks are down 12 - Zippo in the 4th Brewers line score thru 4 = 1 7 0 4
Bob Alpacadaca Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2024 Posted September 14, 2024 Thanks for nothing, Dodgers.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2024 Author Posted September 15, 2024 2-0 DBacks after 2.In the 3rd, Brewer pitcher DL Hall gets the first two hitters then goes: BB, HBP, BB, bases clearing double. 5-0Didn't realize that the DL stood for Demonstrably LamePads/Giants scoreless in the 4thDodgers @ Braves is the SNB game
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2024 Author Posted September 15, 2024 Well, the Brewers have tied it in the 6th: 5-5Pads @ Giants tied at 1 heading for the 7th
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2024 Author Posted September 15, 2024 Giants score just two runs in the entire series but pull out a 2-1 win vs Padres todayAnd the Brewers have reversed their early crash and currently lead the Snakes 8-5 in the 7th

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2024 Author Posted September 15, 2024 Oh shit, I totally missed the Tatis HR.Serves me right for only half paying attention while doing other stuff.Meanwhile, the Snakes have re-tied their game in the bottom of the 8th8-8, DBacks still batting.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2024 Author Posted September 15, 2024 Brewers score two in top 10 but then give up three without even recording an out: 1B, 1B, 1B, HBP, 1BSo we lose in the 9th while the Pads and DBacks both win in the 10th.And now the Dodgers just walked in the first run of the game in Atlanta. And now they get an IF grounder w/bases loaded and one out but do they get two outs ... NO, they get NONE due to a sloppy flip!Just everything turning to shit today.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2024 Author Posted September 15, 2024 So the night might not be a total loss after all as the Dodgers put up a five spot (and counting) in the top of the 9th off closer Raisel Igesiesto break a 2-2 tie. 7 - 2 LADNow 8 - 2 on b-t-b HRsoe: Did I say two HRs? I meant three (b-t-b-t- 9-2It all started with an IW to Ohtani ... it didn't work.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 First useful thing the Dodgers have done all weekend.
Bob Alpacadaca Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 Finally a little help from the Dodgers.
