Baseball killed some radio stars.

My wife is really upset about that. She's been getting here news there for 50 years, and always has it on in the car.

And since my cable company doesn't carry SNY, it is my link to the Mets.

The alternative(for news), 1010 WINS doesn't have a strong enough signal for us to get it up here all the time.

I was in Maine during the Met-Yankee series and wanted to listen to the game on Audacy. I heard the pre-game show and then an announcement that since I was outside of the listening area I wasn't permitted to listen to the game. Fine, didn't know that was a thing.

Then, two weeks ago I was walking around Brooklyn during a day game and wanted to check in on the game. Once more I got that same announcement. Maybe new ownership can fix that.

In Brooklyn, if you didn't have a radio handy, couldn't you get the game live streamed on the WCBS website?

So Michael Kay is going to be on the same station as the Mets. That's an interesting turn of fate.

It means that Met games could very well be running promotions for his show and his show for them.

And this time he won't be able to bitch to station mgmt over them cavorting with the enemy.

I worked at WCBS Newsradio 880 back in the mid 90s. It really was a great place to work. I haven't worked there since 1999, yet a lot of key people are still on the air there. I feel for them.

The funny thing is, they were talking about the demise of WCBS since the mid 90s, when both 880 and 1010 came under the same ownership. They co-existed in that arrangement for over 25 years!

I've woken up to WCBS every day since the '80's. This is like losing a family friend.

I used to tune in for the round by round recaps of the big Ali fights in the 70's
