Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 ESPN insults no other fans the way they do with baseball where they deem that the game is of secondary importance to the booth.

I think that's something cool that a national broadcast can do. It's just that they're something different every single inning. Mic up the player. Mic up the manager. In game interview with someone in the crowd. Everything but the game.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 I don't know if it's the twilight or what, but the radio guys have been blowing a lot of calls.

But ESPN does it regularly because they don't think people tune into SNB in order to watch baseball, they think we tune in to watch ESPN.They wouldn't dare do that to NFL or NBA fans because they actually give a shit about those sports. But they don't care about baseball fans because they don't actually know any. Edited August 11, 2024 by Guest
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Faceplant run, followed by a gargantuan homer. Not our weekend.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 And now a bobble leads to three runs (or more?).
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Game over. Just board the flight now.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 (edited) Oh good, another fucking shrunken screen!!It's been several decades since I watched baseball on a 19" screen but the four-letter network is bringing it back. Edited August 11, 2024 by Guest
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Oh good. Another in-game interview.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 I'm almost rooting for them not to score a run.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Rude of McNeil to interrupt the booth by hitting a HR. I'm sorry George. You were saying?

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 The "E" in ESPN stands for Entertainment. But they think because it comes first in their name, they think it comes first in our priority. And their definition of entertainment is much different than that of sports fans.Later

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 How is there a bullpen roster crunch when Stanek is still on the team
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Also. Should be out of the game.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 (edited) Well we're going to lose this game by double digits ... but at least we avoided the triple shutout. That counts as progress these days. Edited August 11, 2024 by Guest
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Stanek putting on a clinic here.Just not the helpful kind of clinic.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Stanek was garbage. Ridiculous to leave him in.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Keep in mind that this team has out-scored only the White Sox and Marlins this year but are out-scoring us 15-1 thus far in this series. And it might be 25-1 before this inning is out.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Ok. I'm out. Normally I hate off days after a loss, but this team could use a week off or so.
Methead Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Man I was gonna turn it off at 7-1 but I talked myself out of it.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Ryne Stanek was named after Ryne Sandberg, who was named after Ryne Duren, and ... I'm pretty sure that chain ends here.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 It took the third batter of the inning before they announced who the new pitcher for the Mets was.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 McNeil's homer broke open the wrong dam.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Every time they get multiple runners on base with less than two outs you just know they're going to find a way NOT to score. The only thing that changes is the specific details.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Could ANY ending have been more appropriate than a called third strike?Well, except for a GiDP maybe.Out-scored 22-1 in the series. But other than that it was pretty close.
