Do I attempt to follow in real time while working? Or do I go into social media deprivation for the afternoon and watch the replay after dinner? Hmmm

Perhaps even more interesting is Francisco Álvarez in at DH.

The two assignments taken together kind of suggest that the bloom is off the DJ Stewart rose at the moment, as the absence of both Starling Marte and J.D. Martinez game gave Carlos Mendoza two chances to get his Stew in against a righty, and he took a pass both times.

Those red numbers used to designate the Pirates batting-order positions come from the tertiary color (hexidecimal code #E4002B) that was a part of their palette from 1997 to 2013.

It was discontinued, as the black and gold are pretty sacred in Steeltown, but it had old-timey precedents.

Clobbering time for Nimmo.

Swinging 3-0 makes a lot more sense with a runner on second and first base empty. That's aggressive RBI time.

This is where my Hit-by-Pitch reform would come into play.

If the alleged hit is so subtle so as to allow the pitch to continue into the catcher's mitt, it isn't a hit batsman, and the pitch is a ball or strike as called by the umpire.

A 77-pitch hook for Scott, and Eric Orze is the guy.

Contemporary Mets love to debut guys in high-leverage game situations.

Somewhere, in an alternate reality, dwells a mysterious infielder that goes by the name of Oneil McNeil.

Shaquille Oniel McNeil is even better, being 7 feet tall.

Gary announced that the Mets were "looking for a soft spot for Orze's debut."

I don't define that term the same way that he does.
