Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 Good news: shutout thru threeBad news: nearly five innings worth of pitches to get there
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 Sean Hjelle's nickname should be "Grape"
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 I'm liking Tyrone Taylor more than I thought I would.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 Let's see a little more Tyromania here.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 He's making a case to play every day.Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 That wasn't just a reaction dive by Baty. He took three or four steps toward the line before diving.

Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 (edited) Platoon him with all three.* Or bump Stewart from DH and make Taylor the DH. Taylor's been a starter in the past, Stewart is a consummate backup/Quadruple-A guy who will likely falter soon enough.***(I'm being tongue in cheek)**(I'm being more serious) Edited April 24, 2024 by Guest
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2024 Author Posted April 24, 2024 I blinked and they're up six-sniffle!
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 Good opportunity for a double play.I'm not Conforto-ble with this guy up.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 After review from our home office on Mars, the call is overturned.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2024 Author Posted April 24, 2024 On Mars via two soup cans and a giant wire.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 And the cruelest of hooks for Manaea.Hey, managers, there is nothing magic about 100 pitches!

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 Manaea out after 101 pitches and 1/3 of an inning short of qualifying for a WAgree with the move or not, I like that Mendoza is confident enough to not let the circumstances dictate a non-move.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2024 Author Posted April 24, 2024 Garrett - one pitch magic!

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 Manaea looks like he's going through a serious personal crisis in the dugout.I'm on your side, Sean!

That's what gets me. If a guy is having a good game and has something left in the tank ... why not keep a good thing going?Speaking of keeping a good thing going, here's hoping for an easy 6th.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 In the Mets/Yankees World Series of 2000, Joe Torre hooked Denny Neagle after 4 2/3 innings in a much tighter game (3-to-2). There was nobody on and he had only thrown 73 pitches, but Piazza was up and Torre didn't trust his pitcher.it seemed like a minor scandal at the time. Now it's the most common thing in the world.

Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 Garrett is averaging 17.3 K/9 IP this year. If he's a late-blooming great like Wade Davis or Andrew Miller, I'll eat my pants.
