Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 From an SNY rave about Carlos Mendoza's early performance in Mets camp.[bLOCKQUOTE]As a first-year manager, he will naturally make in-game mistakes, especially as he gets used to running a pitching staff and bullpen at the big league level. But as one Mets lifer put it last week after spending a few hours with Mendoza, "He has a [unprintable anatomical reference; use your imagination] to be great." The early reviews are very strong.[/bLOCKQUOTE]He has a ... butthole ... to be great? He has a ballsack to be great?I've got nothing.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 My assumption was that it has something to do with the testicular region.

kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 I suppose a set of balls would be enough to be not printable.
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 If I had to guess, I'd guess "hard-on". That's always a good guess.

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 That is a good guess. Erection it is
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 1, 2024 Author Posted March 1, 2024 I should have fairly titled the thread "One Mets Lifer's Unprintable Anatomical Reference."Now that we have a strong idea what he might have said, the next question is ... who's the Mets lifer?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 1, 2024 Author Posted March 1, 2024 He's certainly on the shortlist, despite his Gospel-living ways. Was he around last week? Not a lot of folks who answer to the description of "Mets lifer" with the passing of Al Jackson and Bud Harrelson. There's David Wright who's a definitive lifer and there's Gary, Ron, Keith, and Howie in the booth, who distort the definition a bit, but would probably not argue too hard at the label.Maybe Mookie can be so described, along with HoJo, Gooden, Alfonzo, and Darryl, but again, it takes some head-in-sandiness to claim them as such.Teufel, maybe, but he's also a Bible-talkin' guy.
