Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 Yohan had been designated for assignment by the Sox, so this likely was an impulse, pocket-money deal. Those are easy to pull the trigger on, on the face of them, but they create the same sort of roster pinches that made Chicago DFA him in the first place. The Mets have nobody with options left in their bullpen for Ramirez to displace. These problems tend to be solved by injuries or somebody being ineffective enough to survive a DFA of his own, or maybe everybody being so effective that they suddenly have value on the trading market. But a bullpen of guys without options costs ya in terms of flexibility.
