There was a story I read a few years back about this Connecticut high school kid who was Seaver's catcher as he started secretly trying to work his way back onto the field. Not a lot of high school boys have a talent for big secrets.

Kid's name was Bill Simmons (actually, if I recall correctly from the story he's told a few times, he stood in as the batter to simulate game conditions).
