Patrick Sandoval 6-10 4.08

Kodai Senga 10-6 3.19

Ohtani will bat second for L.A.

I wonder if he has faced Senga before tonight and what the results were.

Game time 7:10

WPIX will carry the game.

Look at DJ, cracking the lineup against a lefty.

Yes there is a game tonight. Funky weather on tap

The young attendees tonight can say that they saw Ohtani play in their older years

2-0 Angels

Ohtani with a double, Drury and Moustakas with the RBI.

Mets striking out in bunches.

For a brief, shining moment (Camelot theme playing in the background) Roy Staiger was my favorite Met.

I thought he would be the answer to our perpetual third base problem.

Sigh

I'm not sure that Ron is right. I think a lot of players would love to continue hitting and pitching, but their coaches force them to shut down one or the other.

Micky Moniak, a former 1/1 draft pick (2016, Phillies) being managed by former 1/1 draft pick Phil Nevin (1992, Astros).

Bet that's a first.

Too close to take, DJ.

There isn't much like the strike zone in sports. It's a primary goal of the game, yet it doesn't really concretely exist in physical space. It's a two-dimensional plane that folks all think they know the location of, but they all have slight disagreements.

And even though we have the technology to not only define it consistently from pitch to pitch all night — and to electronically define the exact location of the baseball within the stadium — we leave the decision on whether the two intersect to some guy's judgment.

It's funny. The ball was hit toward the corner. Mendick seemingly didn't run initially. The camera lost the ball, the booth lost the ball, and then the outfielder lost the ball.

I've been trying to ignore the fizzle, but boy he's fizzled...

Despite being 2-1 (at least so far) this is going to be a 3+ hour game.

But how nice is it to say that because it's such a rarity this year?
