G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 The Mets have released Syracuse slugger Luke Voit at his request so he can seek a major league spot elsewhere.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 Rough. Rough to watch Michael Peréz get a call to be third string catcher while you're waiting by the phone.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2024 Author Posted February 19, 2024 Voit confirmed as back.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 Well, the Mets have the position of heavyweight DH amply filled, but at least he's a righty, and so provides an alternative to DJ Stewart and G-Man.Seems to be something of a gaggle of guys with connections to Mendoza from youthful times in the Yankee system.

Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 Slugged .643 at Syracuse last year—that's impressive. Led the league in home runs in the shortened 2020 season, which raised his stock a bit, as I recall.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2024 Posted February 20, 2024 Voit looks to be the insurance at RH DH in case Vientos fails. And I think that makes the signing of JD Martinez less of a possibility.Later
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2024 Posted February 20, 2024 Another underwhelming Mets signing!Montgomery and Snell still out there...
