So we've found something this Mets team does well, they're leading the league in getting hit in the face by pop-ups.

And both times it's cost us a run(s).

Greinke is goneke after only 72 pitches.

I hardly see the pointke of paying the guy handsomely if you're not going to let him try to win for you.

It's kind of like the Billy McKinney Interregnum to me — when the Mets had so many offensive injuries that Nido and McCann were their two best hitters, the roster was filled with emergency callups and grabs from the excess pile around the league, and they managed to stay in most games despite ... Nido and McCann being their two best hitters.

For a few weeks there, there were a lot of competitive — but really short — games.

So now that mgmt decided that tens of millions of dollars needs to be dumped into revamping the pitching staff, when do they figure out that the offense and defense are worse than the pitching?

Three plays not made have led to all three runs, and we have 4 hits thru 7 innings against a washed up pitcher with a 6.00 ERA on one of the worst teams in the last decade.

Strange that the KC outfielder didn't make a try for that bloop. There wasn't much downside to lunging for a ball that was gonna drop in and die.

Oh good, now the game is in the hands of the home team then, if we survive that, the clown car rules.

But given multiple opportunities with multiple baserunners instead of getting a solid hit plating multiple runs, we had to rely on a series of bloops, BBs, HBPs, and a Sac Fly just to get the ones we got one at a time cuz we don't do multi-RBI hits.

Trying to one-up Shmálvarez, Pete has one of his uglier at-bats of the year, swinging at sliders down and away from his knees.

Despite calling that go-ahead sac fly "a high fly pop," Steve Gelbs has been much sharper tonight.

Gelbs must've only had nine innings in him, or maybe the jet lag kicked in, because he's kind of been a mess this inning.

How many E-5's have we had over the last two months?

Too many is the short answer. And a lot more than prior to Baty/Vientos is the other.
