Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Wow, Maikel Garcia is a primo de los hermanos Acuña.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Pete looking like he wanna cry — and not just from that blow to the face.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 So we've found something this Mets team does well, they're leading the league in getting hit in the face by pop-ups.And both times it's cost us a run(s).
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Greinke is goneke after only 72 pitches.I hardly see the pointke of paying the guy handsomely if you're not going to let him try to win for you.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Jeff McNeil has LEDs embedded in his face. It's tough night for Met faces.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Has anyone reported why Zimmo isn't playing?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 =metirish post_id=133702 time=1690940743 user_id=72]Will Zack go to the HOF ?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 It's kind of like the Billy McKinney Interregnum to me — when the Mets had so many offensive injuries that Nido and McCann were their two best hitters, the roster was filled with emergency callups and grabs from the excess pile around the league, and they managed to stay in most games despite ... Nido and McCann being their two best hitters. For a few weeks there, there were a lot of competitive — but really short — games.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Well, that's the way to take the lead.Wish we had done it.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 So now that mgmt decided that tens of millions of dollars needs to be dumped into revamping the pitching staff, when do they figure out that the offense and defense are worse than the pitching?Three plays not made have led to all three runs, and we have 4 hits thru 7 innings against a washed up pitcher with a 6.00 ERA on one of the worst teams in the last decade.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Bezes very quickly loaded for Alfonso.Big chance here.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Strange that the KC outfielder didn't make a try for that bloop. There wasn't much downside to lunging for a ball that was gonna drop in and die.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 I think Pete has driven in each of the last 20 runs the Mets have scored.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Bases loaded walk 🚶♂️
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 LET'S GO, REMAINING AND SURVIVING METS!LET'S GO, REMAINING AND SURVIVING METS!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Good thing the Royals had two mound conferences in a four pitch span or else this pitcher might really be in trouble.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Despite calling that go-ahead sac fly "a high fly pop," Steve Gelbs has been much sharper tonight.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 For what it's worth, I think the Mets are 6-1 in extra innings this season. Maybe 5-1.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Oh good, now the game is in the hands of the home team then, if we survive that, the clown car rules. But given multiple opportunities with multiple baserunners instead of getting a solid hit plating multiple runs, we had to rely on a series of bloops, BBs, HBPs, and a Sac Fly just to get the ones we got one at a time cuz we don't do multi-RBI hits.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Trying to one-up Shmálvarez, Pete has one of his uglier at-bats of the year, swinging at sliders down and away from his knees.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Edgy MD wrote:Despite calling that go-ahead sac fly "a high fly pop," Steve Gelbs has been much sharper tonight.Gelbs must've only had nine innings in him, or maybe the jet lag kicked in, because he's kind of been a mess this inning.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Well, this night just got a little longer.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Royals have one guy left on their bench and have burned the DH.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 How many E-5's have we had over the last two months?Too many is the short answer. And a lot more than prior to Baty/Vientos is the other.
