If the intent is to trade Justin, is it wise to run him out there this afternoon?

His arm could fall off after a dozen pitches and then they get bupkis for him.

Keith Raad: "Dickerson almost got traded on the day his wife went into labor and his child was born ... and that's a little low."

Howie Rose: "You better BELIEVE that's a little low!!"

Is Peterson going to be a starter or a reliever?

They're going to have to find a starter sooner or later to replace Max.

If Buck keeps him in, it may be to stretch him out to start.

If Buck pulls him, who knows?

OE: That answered that question... for now. We still don't know.

Our next job as fans is to root for Danny Mendick to get over the Mendoza line.

It takes so little ...

With their tally in the opening frame today, the Mets have now scored 33 1st inning runs on the season.

Ronald Acuna has scored 32

Only the last game of July, but kinda has a last game of the season feel.

But wait, there's more!

Since a single player scoring more than once in a single inning is extremely rare (even a leadoff hitter would require at least an 8 run 1st) it's safe to say that Acuna has scored in the 1st in 32 of the Braves (103) games.

But even the Mets have had a handful of multiple run 1sts this year so they've actually only scored in the opening frame in 20 games to Acuna's 32 ... and that's just fucking ridiculous.

The Pads hang on for a 5-3 win over Texas, but the Mets gain a game on Chicago, Arizona, Philadelphia, and Milwakee — which is every other team standing between them and the Wild Card.

On the day, they cut their net deficit from 26.5 to 22.5 games, or 15.1%.

Dude!

They finish July at 14–9, a .609 win percentage.
