The Mets had been accumulating 10 or more hits per night, but due to a lack of walks and an utter foreswearing of homeruns, they weren't scoring as much as they might.

So this evening, the team found its homerun stick, but didn't get the base hits, and still came up short.

In game two, it all comes together — the hits, the power, the walks, the speed — that makes and offense go. Japanese righthander Kodai Senga takes on Flemish lefthander Josh Fleming, who may be an actual starter or he may be an opener. He has been used both ways.

In a special promotion, the Mets will provide the first 41,000 fans through the gates with a seat, with the possibility of seeing a competitive baseball game from that seat.

Restrictions will apply. Please see your ticket for details.

Look at the redemption of Eduardo Escobar, back in good graces and hitting at the top of the lineup as the Mets try to utterly stack their lineup with righthanded bats.

Seeing Tommy Pfam batting fifth makes my gag reflex start to kick in.

Just a bit over the top maybe for a guy with a career 832 OPS vs LHP?

So unless he also ran over your dog earlier this week, relax.

I was wondering where my dog went. You mean he did that, too?

No, IMO he just doesn't have enough power for that slot in the Batting Order. If they're going to bring up Vientos, why not him there?

(Of course, he'll probably hit a homer his first time up)

C.B. Bucknor sorta seems to take pride in making bad calls just to show managers that he's the boss. Big ol' chip on that guy's shoulder.

The first ump I recall doing that was Lee Weyer. He was a bully who seemed to relish getting the goats of managers.

Two friends just joined them — also dressed in black, with the second woman wearing a similar hat. They cheek-kissed. Possibly an air kiss.

Ugh, second day where I had to listen to Gary gush about the historically awesome TB lineup while my beloved Mets are shitting their pants every day. We get it, they're better than us. Please stop.

I can think of a dozen reasons to keep rookies at the back end of the lineup until they hit their way up.

There's a reason a guy was in the minors until this afternoon.
