AAA Syracuse has started their season.

And Brett Baty is hitting like he wants to get back to the majors very soon.

After scoring only two runs on Opening Day on Friday, the Triple-A Syracuse Mets offense exploded for 16 runs and five home runs on Saturday in their 16-6 win over the Worcester Red Sox. The Mets were led by third base prospect Brett Baty, who hit two home runs and knocked in five runs.

Catcher Francisco Álvarez and first baseman Mark Vientos each hit a solo home run and shortstop Ronny Mauricio knocked in two runs as four of the Mets' top eight prospects fueled the Syracuse offensive outburst.

And Francisco Alvarez not only threw out a baserunner attempting to steal, but he also stole a base himself.

Hope opener Tuesday at 2 PM and another matinee Wed at 1 PM. Trying to figure out if I can wiggle out of work for a few hours to attend one of these, or possibly the Saturday game if it's not too chilly. My family will not join me for 50 degree baseball, I suspect.

Brett Baty left today's game with an apparent hand injury.

What are you hearing about the severity of the injury, Fmann?

Brett Baty was removed from Tuesday's game for Triple-A Syracuse with an apparent right hand injury.

Michael Mayer of Metsmerized adds that a trainer came out to see Baty during his third-inning at-bat shortly after he was spotted shaking his right hand following a swing-and-miss. He wound up staying in the contest, but was pulled in the ensuing frame. There should be an update on his status sometime in the coming days. It's a tough break since he's gotten off to a phenomenal start this year at Triple-A Syracuse.

Sore thumb. Same one he had surgery on.

Didn't make it out to the ballpark today, weather wasn't really conducive to it. I'll press my sources tomorrow for details though

Right thumb inflammation, no structural damage, day-to-day for Baty.

Well, we didn't stay for both games, but spending one game with my dad and son was pretty cool too. Beautiful day for a game.

They don't have coneys around here in CT, but every once in a while I'll have a box of 'em shipped here. I hadn't been on the lookout for one, but when I saw it on the menu, I knew what I had to do. I heard Wegmans was planning on opening a store down here, so there is hope.

I had tix a few rows behind the 1B dugout and had a good view of Lucchesi on the mound. He got victimized by Matt Adams for a solo shot, but made most other batters look silly. Walked too many guys, but he held former Mets Plawecki and Blankenhorn to a combined 0-for-6, 2Ks. He got bailed out by Khalil Lee in RF a couple times, making a sweet diving catch in the gap, and then a nice running grab later in the game.

Mauricio and Vientos didn't do much, but they didn't see anything to hit, really. Mets won the game on a 2-run HR by Lorenzo Cedrola, a 25 y/o CF who I hadn't heard of before. It was his 1st homer of the year, and he ended up hitting his 2nd one in game 2.

When I was a kid I used to go to games there, in old MacArthur Stadium, back when they were a Blue Jays affiliate. It's a new building but the nostalgia was still hitting pretty hard.

Sorry I didn't see this, I didn't make it out this past week to a game but I'm hoping to on the next homestand. Glad you had a good time

Ronny Mauricio just hit his fourth home run of the young season for Syracuse.

Maybe they should give him some starts in the outfield.

Just sayin'.

The OPS for the 1927 MFYs team was .872.

That's crazy. (In a WOW way)

Ronny Mauricio is playing 2B for SYR tonight. If he keeps hitting and doesn't embarrass himself at 2B (there's no reason why he would) the Mets can call him up and move McNeil to LF with Canha playing RF for Marte (let's hope he's OK) and DH'ing.

I got my Syracuse Mets cap in the mail yesterday. New Era puts the team word mark on the back of the 39/Thirty caps, and it's in orange, just like front of the jerseys. And I was thinking, "Why did the Mets do that, since the blue with the orange outline looks so much better.

Then I realized: Syracuse. Orange. Duh.

Syracuse were down 3-0 and 7-2 hosting Lehigh Valley tonight before finally entering the ninth down 7-6, before a two-out double by Khalil Lee tied everything up.

Stupid rules happen though, and with help from the magic runner, Lehigh Valley went back up 9-7 in the top of the 11th. Two good comebacks deserve a third, and the Mets tied it up on another Khalil Lee double, this time good for two runs. Lehigh Valley then walked Michael Perez intentionally to pitch to a rehabbing Tim Locastro with one out. He makes a lot of soft contact and is a terrible double-play candidate, so I don't quite know what they were thinking, but damned if the Mets didn't win it in the oddest way, with Locastro reaching on a bases-loaded catcher's interference call.

D.J. Stewert, Jaylin Davis, and Danny Mendick all went deep for Syracuse, with Ronny Mauricio collecting three more hits to raise his batting average to .353.

Ironically, though, he was a hero this weekend. It would have been a good time for him to ask for his release, if he didn't have a record to worry about.

Mark Vientos was signed in 2017, about six years ago

I feel badly for him in that he has done everything that has been asked of him, and very well but is still buried in the minors.
