batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 I don't think the Mets wore their unis for the parade. Wives traveled with the team during the post-season.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 My friend Martin shared this photo with me today of his family playing a game of baseball back in 1921. His grandfather is pitching and his grandmother is playing first. The shortstop, seriously unintimidated by the batter's big chokeup, is really cheating in.Pitching in a boater hat is pretty boss, I think. His grandfather's younger cousin was future Gashouse Gang star and eventual MLB Hall-of-Famer Ducky Medwick.[FIMG=750]https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2023/11/1921.jpg[/FIMG]
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 They need better grounds keepers. It doesn't look like anyone is wearing a glove.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 I mentioned the sorry groundskeeping standards of the era, and Martin correctly pointed out that any field that wasn't full of cow poo was probably a plus.
