kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 (edited) Right, the guy next to you is DGW. I believe Bubba and JCL are in the back too.KB is popping over the shoulders in the back row. Not sure who tall guy is, it's not Diamond Dad. I'm pretty sure I've not had that much of a beard since then... Edited February 2, 2023 by Guest
dgwphotography Old-Timey Member Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Holy moly! Hard to make some people out, but you get the gist. Year? The Blue Tarp Lounge:https://thecranepool.net/images/bluetarplounge.png>Yep, that's me wearing the Binghamton Mets Hat. Mrs. DGW is holding littlest DGW who has long since graduated college and has been working as a photographer for a company that holds dance competitions all over the country. Even worse is our oldest (in the blue with pink cuffs) who is now 30, and a vet tech in S.C. I'm guessing this is 2002?

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 One of my favorites from many moons ago now. I had read in the Sundaypaper (remember those?) that the final piece of The Ol' Girl was going down that Monday so we took a ride out for a final farewell. https://thecranepool.net/images/SheaGoodbye.png>Me and Lefty Jr were there that day too. Sunday, January 31st, 2009. It was cold as hell but there was a nice crowd considering.Jr decided to clamber on top of a debris pile and start singing 'Meet the Mets' and the crowd joined in. A photographer from the Times was there and took this pic. The concerned-looking guy in the back right with the wool cap is yours truly. I was afraid he was going to faceplant into the parking lot. But he didn't.https://imgpile.com/images/dXq7DM.png>The photographer said, "If we don't use the picture in the paper I'll e-mail it to you." And sure enough, he did. The next day there was a nice little article in the Times about the farewell, and there were the two of us on the debris pile, only this time viewed from behind with the last bits of the stadium still standing. Still have the clipping.https://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/01/nyregion/01shea.htmlhttps://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/01/nyregion/01shea.html
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 That's cool. I didn't see any crowds late morning, but I didn't do a full 360° of the wreckage. Thanks for the date confirmation and the NYT link.
