MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 (edited) The first one I've seen is Baseball Prospectus (paywall):1 Francisco Álvarez, C2 Brett Baty, 3B/OF3 Kevin Parada, C4 Jett Williams, SS5 Alex Ramirez, OF6 Blake Tidwell, RHP7 Ronny Mauricio, SS8 Mark Vientos, 4C *9 Dominic Hamel, RHP10 Calvin Ziegler, RHPParada and Williams were drafted this year. Matt Allen, who had been carried on past top 10 lists while recovering the TJ surgery has been dropped off - for now.Later* = They had "4C" after Vientos' name. I thought it was a typo and replaced it with 1B,3B.But the more I think about it, it means he can play the four corner positions, 1B,3B, LF and RF.I changed it back. Edited November 11, 2022 by Guest
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 Of the pitchers, Tidwell and Ziegler were at St. Lucie in 2022. Hamel is a little closer to the big leagues; he was in Brooklyn.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 Not in this top ten, but closer to debuts are Grant Hartwig and Eric Orze. And only barely just debuted are José Butto and Bryce Montes de Oca.Just you watch.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2022 Author Posted November 29, 2022 The Baseball America list:1 Francisco Alvarez C2 Brett Baty 3B3 Kevin Parada C4 Alex Ramirez OF5 Jett Williams SS6 Mark Vientos 3B7 Ronny Mauricio SS8 Blade Tidwell RHP9 Calvin Ziegler RHP10 Matt Allan RHPAllen back in this list. That is the most encouraging news I've heard about Allen. I hope that means they know that he's on his way to recovering from TJ surgery. And, Parada really must impress the evaluators to be ranked so high after just a few games as a pro.Later

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 Considering the strong season that Vientos had in AAA and the one Mauricio has had in AA and so far in winter ball, I'm looking at it as more of an upgrade for Parada and Williams (and Alex Ramirez) than a downgrade for the Vientos and Mauricio. One must acknowledge that a disproportionate bulk of Parada's and Williams' rankings come from their draft pedigree, but Parada played two years in the ACC and a brief summer in the Cape Cod League, so evaluators have certainly seen plenty of him. It's an encouraging list from where I sit.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2023 Posted January 27, 2023 MLB Pipeline's list of the Top Hundred prospects has Alvarez at 3, Baty at 21, Kevin Parada at 36, and Alex Ramirez at 96.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 Post-draft, post-trading deadline prospect revisions at mlb.com#40 Luisangel Acuna - 2B/SS#57 Drew Gilbert - OF#84 Jett Williams SS/OF#93 Ronny Mauricio 2B/OF/SS#96 Kevin Parada CAnd it appears if you want your kid to be in line for future success in baseball, it helps tremendously if you name him Jackson#1 Jackson Holliday - SS, O's#2 Jackson Chourio - OF, Brewers#3 Paul Skenes - RHP Pirates#4 Dylan Crews - OF Nationals#5 Ethan Salas - C Padres#6 Junior Caminero - 3B/SS Rays#7 James Wood - OF Nationals#8 Evan Carter - OF, Rangers#9 Jackson Merrill - SS Padres#10 Jordon Lawlar - SS DiamondbacksOh yeah, and Pete Crow-Arnstrong - #12
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 The big news there for me is that Jet Williams passes Mauricio and Parada among veteran Met prospects.Alex Ramirez too, depending on what previous rankings you're working from.
