Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 Taijuan returns to the lineup, along with Tomás. The rest of the lineup is pretty stable, with the Mets still riding Canha's hotness and Tyler Naquin still riding pine.

[TH][/TH][TH][FIMG=250]https://cdn.freebiesupply.com/images/large/2x/new-york-mets-logo-transparent.png[/FIMG][/TH][TH][/TH][TH][/TH][TH][FIMG=250]https://cdn.freebiesupply.com/images/large/2x/new-york-yankees-logo-transparent.png[/FIMG][/TH][TH][/TH]

[TH]#[/TH][TH]Player[/TH][TH]Pos.[/TH][TH]#[/TH][TH]Player[/TH][TH]Pos.[/TH]

=#FF5910]1=#002D72]Brandon Nimmo (L)=#FF5910]cf=#C4CED3]1=#0C2340]Andrew Benintendi (L)=#C4CED3]lf

=#FF5910]2=#002D72]Starling Marte (R)=#FF5910]rf=#C4CED3]2=#0C2340]D.J. Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 I wonder when/if Escobar is going to displace Baty.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 Never thought I'd be so glad to see Tomas Nido back. Baty's a nice story, but he may need a bit more seasoning. Not sure platooning him with Escobar is the right way to go, not that Escobar's any world-beater himself this year.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 Need Vogelbach to pick up Pete here.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 These 1st inning mound visits would be banned under my MLB dictatorship (Yanx did it last night too,). Nice to hear GKR agreeing.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 Not scoring there could prove very costly.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 Nice 6 pitch bottom 1st for Tie-one-onNow Montas goes right back in the soup after his near 30 pitch effort with hardly a break at all.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 Whole Lotta weak contact so far ... even by the guys getting on base.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 I'm surprised that Pete's bat made contact with his knee.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 They let Montas off the hook early, and now it's biting them.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 23, 2022 Author Posted August 23, 2022 McNeil seems to be getting better on the turn all the time.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 23, 2022 Author Posted August 23, 2022 We have some rare 99-on-99 action here.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 That was a blast, was hoping Walker would just throw one in the dirt on 3-2 and let someone else beat him.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 23, 2022 Author Posted August 23, 2022 Agreed. That pitch never really had much of a chance.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 23, 2022 Author Posted August 23, 2022 Ball four to Donaldson there was a strike. In fact, that's the pitch he ought to have thrown to Judgy if he had to throw a fastball.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 23, 2022 Author Posted August 23, 2022 Man, Taiweezy is fighting himself.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 How do you not challenge thw rookie with a strike there?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 This all went to shit in a hurry.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 I understand that Jake's rest is important and I get that in the grand scheme of things the game against COL means the same as the game against NYY BUT it would have been nice to see Jake tonight.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 But none of this matters if we're going to flail at pitches all night like the did yesterday. Right now they're a Vogelbach swing away from looking at a double shutout.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 Canha with the first decent contact of the game. And now the catcher's interference is the second.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 The Mets really need to cash in this inning.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 Someone that young should be faster.
