Braves are in Philly for a three-gamer Mon, Tues, then Wed afternoon

Tonight: Top 2, scoreless, Braves up w/2 out nobody on: Single, Single, BB, E-5* 2 runs score batter goes to 3rd, WP run scores

3-0 Atlanta heading for bottom 2

* and it wasn't even Alex Bohm, it was ex-Brave Johan Camargo (obviously still on the payroll). It was a ridiculously easy throw but Hoskins at 1B didn't do him any favors as it could easily have been scored E-3

oe: Although as I type the Phils get 2 of those back on a weird bounce that Olson at 1B didn't play well

It actually wasn't his glove, he just sat back on a mini-bloop in front of him only to watch it take a 45 degree bounce past him and into foul territory in short RF.

3 - 3 as Phiily bats in bottom 5

Ouch, literally, re Mike Trour.

Trout's injury was first diagnosed as back spasms when he left a game July 12. A week later, when the Angels placed him on the injured list, they announced it was rib cage inflammation. Frostad explained that the muscle spasms around the inflammation to protect it. Frostad said it's technically a “costovertebral dysfunction at T5.”

“This is a pretty rare condition that he has right now in his back,” Frostad said. “(Dr. Robert Watkins), one of the most well-known spine surgeons in the country, if not the world, doesn't see a lot of these. For it to happen in a baseball player, we just have to take into consideration what he puts himself through with hitting, swinging on a daily basis just to get prepared and then also playing in the outfield, diving for balls. Jumping into the wall, things like that. And there's so many things that can aggravate it, but this doctor hasn't seen a lot of it. And he's one of the best in the country.”

Yanx beat Royals 1-0

Judge was 0-2 with a walk and two more K's ... and then he HR'd with one out in the 9th to win it.

Benintendi = 0-4

Yanx had two hits.

Braves hosting the Snakes for the weekend.

Phils continue their four-game set vs Pitt.

Philly led big yesterday but barely escaped with a W after Familia got the first out in the 9th but then coughed up four runs before being bailed out by Sir Anthony Dominguez with the tying run on.

I'm sure the Braves have played a good team (other than the Mets) this season but I can't recall it ever happening.

Fortunately I wasn't watching any of this otherwise I might have put my fist through something.

Yanx entered the bottom of the 8th down 5-3 to KCR; Judge leads off the inning with a K

- then comes a weak grounder to 3rd for an infield single, followed by a ground single to CF, followed by an E6, followed by an infield single to 1B (1 run),

followed by a walk (1 run), followed by a ground single to LF (1 run), followed by a weak groundout (1 out/1 run)

So that's six grounders plus a walk in a seven batter span, at least four of which could have ended the inning as GiDPs but instead were turned into a grand

total of one out.

- a walk then re-loaded the bases in time for Judge's Grand Slam, his 2nd HR of the game and 3rd of the series.

11-5 was the final

The ground ball single, the hit that made Derek Jeter famous.

The current MFYs are just carrying on a tradition.

Yeah, they also lead the planet in HRS.

The point was not that the Yanx are a ping-hitting team, it's that last night's game in particular must have been frustrating to watch as a string of weak grounders produced a grand total of One out leading to KCR losing the lead even before Judge's coup de grace.

You need to get over your Jeter obsession.

Sorry. I obsess. It is what I do.

A day without a Derek Jeter insult is like a day without sunshine.

He's just one on my list. :)

Not as long as he's still obsessing about the Mets. From the new ESPN documentary about him (hurl):

That Fall Classic obviously captivated the city and saw the rivalry blossom among fans, but Jeter said the Yanks didn't see it that way.

Why? Because it was “just the Mets.”

“For us, there wasn't a hatred of the Mets,” Jeter said. “How we looked at it, they were just the Mets.”

Later in the documentary, when it arrived at the Yankees taking a commanding 3-1 lead in the series before finishing it off in game five, Jeter made the comment again, seemingly taking a break in between the more formal part of the interviews but while the cameras were still rolling.

So the Braves finish July 18 - 8 and, assuming the Mets don't blow this one, they'll have gained one half a game on the Mets during that time.
