It's the Mets in Wrigley at 8:05 ET (followed by three day games). Carlos Carrasco is on the mound for the Mets. Let's hope it's the good Cookie. Keegan (Michael-Key) Thompson (RHP) goes for the Cubs (34-53). I'm not familiar with him but his numbers are good and he's coming off 5 2/3 IP with 0 ER against LAD.

Keegan is a home grown Cub who was used in bullpen games til about 5-6 weeks ago.

He has done a decent job of late. He will never be accused of having electric stuff.

Note to Eppler, bring Contreras back to NY.

Nobody really gets that story, though.

If a guy signs with a new team, it's one thing to get a story out of him talking shit about the organization he's leaving, how the front office were incompetents, the fans were malicious, and the teammates didn't deserve him. A better story is to call him up four months later when his team is in fourth place and he's barely getting it done, and see if he's gained any new perspective, or simply new information.

When the old team meets the new, a beat guy will usually summarize his season, and regurgitate what's been written about him so far, but there's a deeper story waiting to be told.

Really, any story that involves accusations of racism and death threats shouldn't really be allowed to just fade away.

I don't know much about the Cubs other than that Stroman has been not great.

I don't remember if this was before the start of the season, or at some point in April, but woman in a Cubs shirt saw my Mets hat as we crossed paths in the supermarket parking lot and told me "thanks for Stroman!"

Instant karma's gonna get ya. It's why I never thank anyone for anything.

don't worry, Mets fans will inevitable renew the racism and death threats on Friday.

I mean, the Mets beat won't cover it because it wasn't pre-written for them in a press release, but they'll be there.

What's this all about? I'm forgetting something? Racism, death threats?

We see Stro' tomorrow afternoon.

Mets fans made endless death threats and racist remarks to Stroman on social media pretty much non-stop (and probably elsewhere)

Anybody wanna KTE the Kubs for me?

Close to league average offense but decidedly sub-par pitching (4th worse RA/G in NL)

They're getting decent numbers from a bunch of young and young-ish guys that you probably know little about:

SS Nico Hoerner, 3B Patrick Wisdom, CF Christopher Morel. Off-season NPL target Seiya Suzuki (RF) is hitting well but not great.

They've got the older All-Star Contreras brother behind the plate with his best on team 137 OPS+

Looks like we'll see their current best tonight: Keegan Thompson, RH, 27 y/o, 2nd year, 19 games/11starts, 7-3, 3.04, 1.17 WHIP

followed by Stroman: 10 starts, 4.91/1.19 and then the lefty Drew Smyly, 10 starts, 4.43/1.34

And endless and non-stop is a stretch and three quarters!

(we now return you to our regularly scheduled IGT already in progress...)

Is Fox Sports Radio's Steve Covino an actual person or just a bad take bot?

I don't want to be on the wrong side of this. But I hate this story because I expect my players to be there, man. I do. I mean it's the big leagues, bro. Big series! You get paid lots of money, you let the fans down! The fans are what make you. That's how I feel about that.

And because I forgot that it's a four game series, looks like we'll face Adrian Sampson in the Sunday finale.

A 30 y/o right-hander who rang up just over two seasons of service time w/SEA, TEX, and CHC from 2016-'21,

he's appeared in 6 games/4 starts this season.

I've looked a few times, it's still a big secret. Stay tuned....

Familiar lineup:

Nimmo CF

Marte RF

Lindor SS

Alonso 1B

McNeil LF

Guillorme 2B

Escobar 3B

Smith DH

Mazeika C

Carrasco will pitch but not bat because the National League no longer holds any regard for itself.

Pretty nice to get out of Atlanta with two wins and then add two All-Stars to the lineup.

Mets Roster Central as yet unable to identify what the corresponding move is to be. Any sign of Ender Inciarte?
