Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 If this game gets cancelled, it's not as clear when it gets made up.-Doubleheader Sunday (most likely): basically fine from the Mets' perspective, given they are off Monday. Sunday is getaway day for Philadelphia, however: they play in Seattle on Monday.-Doubleheader Sunday, 8/21: would make the August tripto Philadelphia 5 games in 3 days.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 It has stopped raining here in NJ so who knows. The Kinks used to do a rousing version of "Milk Cow Blues". Smithereens also.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Yanx (day game) already postponed for today, making it two in a row for them.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 This is about as dreary a May day as you can imagine. Cold, windy and steady rain
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Another rainout. There will be a "straight doubleheader" (the only kind of doubleheaders that are allowed in Florida) tomorrow at 12:35.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 =kcmets post_id=91619 time=1651955913 user_id=53]Game's in Pennsylvania.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 It's a double entendre reference to the apparent straightness-as-establishment-sexual-orientation campaign of Floridian lawmakers. It's a stretch, but I see how he saw his use of straight there and couldn't pass up the opportunity. Puns can be like that. If you see one, even a weak one, and don't deploy it, it can get in your head and bother you all day.
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 I find it irresistible in tennis, particularly in the phrase "straight sets."Billie Jean King lost to Martina Navratilova in straight sex. Yeah, but Billie Jean beats her at gay sex all the time--like that. It's a bad habit, I know, but I can't seem to break it.
