G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 The doubleheader the lockout wrought commences at 3:10 PM. Starting pitchers for the opener (and nightcap) to be announced. Either prospective 27th man David Peterson or Carlos Carrasco for the Mets; either Charlie Morton or Kyle Wright for the visitors.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 This marks the 1st "official" gathering of the Tuesday Night Mets Club, tho I'm gonna miss several innings of Game 1 at least. Section 312, row 8!

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 I think Charlie Morton is older than I am. Somewhere there's a baseball card picture of him that gets older each year while he doesn't age.You watch him pitch and think you could just grab a bat and get a hit off him. Then you find yourself carrying that bat back to the dugout. Not today, old guy!LFGM.Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 The staff has suddenly allowed 10 runs and 5 HRs over the last two games. Now would be a nice time to stop doing that.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Morton's curve sure looks trackable so far.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Mets on the board in the first. Not quite sure how Lindor didn't go first to third. He wasn't being held.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Chasing the starter early in Game One of a double header is gold.I'm not sure the Mets have had a swing and miss yet. Canha struck out looking on a pitch that probably didn't touch the zone.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 McNeil whiffs, tipping the ball into the catcher's mitt.Legally, the same thing as a swing and miss, but still not a swing and miss.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Middle of the second, we just hit the 45 minute mark...
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 A couple of rough calls in that inning.I think that's a good sign of whether a young pitcher will stick — do crappy calls break him or not.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 That foul ball called fair at third was pretty bad. That's the guy who was behindthe plate last night? Can umps have PointsBet accounts?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Probably.Morton isn't really executing anything.Probably one swing away from an exit.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 That foul dubble called fair is the only hit Peterson has been tagged for.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 The SNY director is enjoying shooting the cannoli ladies.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 An error and a smash and our lead is nearly dashed.A ball coming right at you, especially without much rotation, can futz with your depth perception.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 In an alternate universe, DP makes the DP and the inning ends.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Cripes, Morton is a completely different pitcher.
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 There's a chance that foul double nicked the bag. It seemed to change trajectory around that point, and that may explain the call.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 The Mets can't be letting the Braves hang close like this.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Terrific job by Smith working with a rubbery strike zone.Let's get a pad for Díaz.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Can't pinch-hit for Guillorme against the lefty because they need his glove in the bottom of the inning.Good time for a Marte steal.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Edwin even has confidence in the front door slider.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 We have an even series, even if took four innings of bullpen excellence.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 It's a shame that we couldn't wrack their pen but Morton suddenly started getting single-digit pitch innings after looking like he wouldn't get past the 3rd and outlasted Peterson who obviously got undone in a two pitch sequence.
