Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 13, 2022 Posted April 13, 2022 If I was gooey enough to give Bobby Witt Jr., his own thread, there has to be one for Steven Kwan, the brand new player with a brand new team name across his chest.Through 24 plate appearances, he's hitting .667 / .750 / .933 // 1.683. That slugging percentage, at this point barely contained by the three-digit realm, has been achieved despite the player having yet to hit his first home run. He hits it hard and runs hard. What's cooler is what you've probably heard — through five games, he not only has yet to strike out, but he's actually swung at 38 pitches and has yet to miss the ball.Cleveland has found themselves a player. Big sexy leg kick, pulls the bat through the zone like Ichiro, but so far he seems to have quicker hands and seems to hit it harder, and can turn on it when they come in on him.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2022 Posted April 13, 2022 I love stories like this. I hope he doesn't fade away like Yermín Mercedes.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2022 Posted April 13, 2022 Those Guardian uni numbers are something to see too.I just assumed based on his name that Kwan was a signee from a league in Asia but it turns out he's as American as apple pie, grew up in Cali, went to Oregon State and was a 5th round draft pick
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2022 Posted April 13, 2022 I checked his spring training stats and he only hit .469/.500/.933 in 34 PA, so thankfully he's stepped it up a notch since the bell rang.
