All those who had Andrew McCutcheon of the Brewers (I didn't know McC was ON the Brewers) scoring the first run of the season, step up and collect your winnings.

I could be an old man yelling at a cloud or something, but that strikes me as a group seriously lacking in the name power one normally associates with opening day starters.

Framber Valdez is a goodish pitcher who has yet to pitch anything approaching a full season. Joe Ryan, on the other hand, seems to have been artificially created in a lab to make me feel better about Trevor Megill.

JT Brubaker lives down the street from me. He's nice and all and his kids seem happy, but he generally divides his time between working on his car and short-term prison sentences.

I can't find the page on MLB.com that I cribbed some of this stuff from, but the Pirates and Rangers, I think it was, are starting something like their 8th & 11th different OD starters in as many years.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame at Wrigley today was led by Fergie Jenkins, Ryne Sandberg, Hawk Dawson, and Lee Arthur Smith up in the booth.

As they said in YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, 'Nice grouping'

Cubs win! Ian Happ, Mychael Givens, Seiya Suzuki, Jason Heyward, Kyle Hendricks and Nico Heorner sharing the Old Style points.

They didn;t bring Gsellman with them.

Ohtani becomes the first player in MLB history to both throw, and see as a batter, the first pitch of his team's season.

I thought the extra inning ghost runner on 2nd was eliminated.

It was revived at the last minute for this year only (or so they claim now) ... but for health and safety reasons only.

Each team scored once in the 10th thanks to the 'Manfred Man', but the Sox fail to cash in in top 11 so they're officially in trouble here.

Something named Kutter Crawford is on the bump for Boston tasked with keeping this one alive.

So, they're still doing things that remind the fans of Derek Jeter?

That kind of MFY hit should be named in his honor.

Reached a bit for some of that stuff, eh?

Perhaps not surprisingly, the Orioles finish the first weekend as MLB's only winless team, getting out-scored 15-4 in three game by Tampa,

a fact which makes the Rays the only undefeated team thus far.
