Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2022 Author Posted April 7, 2022 All those who had Andrew McCutcheon of the Brewers (I didn't know McC was ON the Brewers) scoring the first run of the season, step up and collect your winnings.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 I could be an old man yelling at a cloud or something, but that strikes me as a group seriously lacking in the name power one normally associates with opening day starters.Framber Valdez is a goodish pitcher who has yet to pitch anything approaching a full season. Joe Ryan, on the other hand, seems to have been artificially created in a lab to make me feel better about Trevor Megill.JT Brubaker lives down the street from me. He's nice and all and his kids seem happy, but he generally divides his time between working on his car and short-term prison sentences.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2022 Author Posted April 7, 2022 I can't find the page on MLB.com that I cribbed some of this stuff from, but the Pirates and Rangers, I think it was, are starting something like their 8th & 11th different OD starters in as many years.Take Me Out to the Ballgame at Wrigley today was led by Fergie Jenkins, Ryne Sandberg, Hawk Dawson, and Lee Arthur Smith up in the booth. As they said in YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, 'Nice grouping'

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2022 Author Posted April 7, 2022 Braves down 3-1 to the Cincy Commies thru five
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2022 Author Posted April 7, 2022 Ohtani becomes the first player in MLB history to both throw, and see as a batter, the first pitch of his team's season.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 Three batters into the season and Gerrit Cole has allowed three baserunners, including a HR by Rafael Devers. 2-0 Red Sox, so far.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 Nate Eovaldi also gives up a longball in the first inning to Anthony Rizzo. Red Sox up 3-2 at the end of the first. Hope no one came for a pitching duel.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 Boston-MFYs going to bottom 9 tied 4-4.Phils up big on A's early
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 I thought the extra inning ghost runner on 2nd was eliminated.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2022 Author Posted April 8, 2022 And two pitches and in the game is over as a 23 hopper sneaks up the middle.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2022 Author Posted April 8, 2022 You need to let this go.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2022 Author Posted April 9, 2022 Those weren't rings they handed out in Atlanta prior to tonight's game, those were bejeweled foot-stools.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2022 Author Posted April 10, 2022 Two hours in and the Yanx & Sawx are in the top of the 5th in a 3-3 game ... because of course they are.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2022 Author Posted April 11, 2022 Perhaps not surprisingly, the Orioles finish the first weekend as MLB's only winless team, getting out-scored 15-4 in three game by Tampa, a fact which makes the Rays the only undefeated team thus far.
