Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 I thought this was to be a thread about Tito Santana, former WWF Intercontinental champion, who pretended to be from Mexico but was only of Mexican heritage. There was a weird article I saw the other day about whom MLB was "allowing" to wear 21 on this day, but it seemed to come from a false perspective that its governed everyday like 42. Would be news to Rich Hill I suppose
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2021 Author Posted September 15, 2021 Several years ago, I was on a business trip to San Juan Puerto Rico. One of my associates from my company met me at the airport. We got into his car and he asked me, "Would you like to get something to eat, or would you like to go directly to the office?"I told him, "The first thing I want to do is drive to Hi Bithorn Stadium, so I can see the Roberto Clemente statue".He smiled, and proudly took me there. Later, during lunch, he talked about how important Clemente was to the people of Puerto Rico and he was happy that someone who wasn't from the island felt the same way.Later

I think it was the Puerto Rican players (including Quarter-rican Seth Lugo IIRC) and past and present Clemente winners/nominees.
