G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 Mets take their disjointed five-game winning streak inside the Beltway. Rich Hill vs Capitol Hill, slightly after seven on SNY (or MASN, presumably, if you're in blackout territory).
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 Don't Pitch to Soto was my favorite Rick Springfield album.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 I thought Bryan Adams sang that.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 Sage advice. If there's a hitter on another team you have trouble getting out, you should pitch around around him unless you have to.(e.g.- bases loaded and no place to put him)Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 I'd argue the opposite: pitch TO someone unless forced to do otherwise. Avoid someone if the situation calls for it but preemptively granting anyone a 1.000 OBA and then trying to figure out a way to get him out with the sacks full and you can't walk him is a formula for losing baseball.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 It's okay to pitch to him, just don't give him anything he can hit.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 Five out of the last six since the whole west-coast-teams debacle was nice but at the same time was virtually necessary and it remains necessary that we keep up something resembling that pace over this eight game WAS (5) / MIA (3) road swing. Winning 'only' five here probably isn't good enough, especially as it's followed by a NYY - StL - PHI - BOS (2) - MIL 14-game stretch.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 sure, sit J.D. Davis again, that makes sense.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 That's why you don't swing at borderline 3-0 pitches while leading off an inning, Pete.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 Five players drafted from Seaford HS: in 1965, 1967, 1969, 1970, and then this Nolin guy in 2008What were that town feeding those guys back in the late '60s?

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 Until just mentioned by Gary a minute ago, I hadn't thought about David Peterson on maybe two months.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 If Hand pitches this weekend he will have pitched in Nationals Park this season for 3 different teams. That sounds unusual.

Same here and then I thought that we didn't realize what a loss that was at the time. I hope he's OK for ST '22.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 Mets ought to be chasing Nolin before the end of this inning.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 Not chaste yet, but top of the order next inning.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 So far, so good on the pitching to Soto front.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 Winning is fun.Villar does carry this team at times. He has stolen a couple of games with his legs.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 We have far too many hard hit balls through five innings to only have two runs, and yet in some ways we're lucky to even have the two.

His only other option was to try and return to 2nd but if he does that he likely runs the team into a DP
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 I wouldn't know, because not unlike Zack Scott, I'm blacked out down here.
