bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2021 Posted August 6, 2021 (edited) The second-place Mets play the first-place Phillies at 4:05 PM (SNY and FS1). At a minimum, you won't waste your entire evening on the Mets, just the late afternoon and early evening. And remember what Keith said, "it's only a game" (I know he's Keith Hernandez but go F yourself). Our hopes are on the arm of a player that didn't pitch above AA before 2021, Tylor Megill (RHP) who is facing Ranger Suarez (LHP) who has been moved into the rotation. He hasn't gone more than 3 innings which seems like nothing but that's just 2 innings less than the typical Mets starter. Kevin Pillar has hit a HR against Suarez so I'm guessing that he's the starting CF tomorrow. Or RF. Or LF. Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2021 Posted August 6, 2021 Time to turn this around. Tylor Megill goes up against Ranger Suarez and his loyal wolf Fang.
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Did we cross-IGT? Maybe it's a good omen.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Being in first for about 80 straight days was fun. They need a win to stop the free fall and continue to stay above .500Pretty quiet on the Lindor front. 341 million for this hot dog. Ugh
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Author Posted August 7, 2021 Do you have confidence in the 5 through 8 of that lineup? Or any of it?
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Rojas to Michael, Dominic and Jeff -- ya wanna suck, you're gonna sit.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 This lineup looks like the bench mob one that played well during the injuries. You could suggest to the team that they may be playing for Luis' job.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Will. Not. Watch. I'm exhausted by this team.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Author Posted August 7, 2021 Luis "stacks" the lineup against a lefty starter which makes sense except that he's not going for more than 3 or 4 so what will Luis do then?
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Author Posted August 7, 2021 The game is also on FS1 with Don Orsillo, play-by-play and A.J. Pierzynski, color.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 3rd inning, no hits by either team.Suarez is out.

Luis PH's Conforto for Drury which means that he has lost Drury for one 2d inning AB.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 The dreaded leadoff man on again.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Author Posted August 7, 2021 Let's see Baez steal second. He's not going to get there any other way.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 That line out by McCann was the first ball out of the infield by the Mets.Four GOs plus 8 Ks to go along with the walks and the one IF single.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Author Posted August 7, 2021 Look what can happen when you let the pitcher swing the bat.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 1-0 and threatening for more. Insurmountable lead?

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Author Posted August 7, 2021 All this after Ken Rosenthal's breathless report about the greatness of Megill.Hell of a play by Villar who peaked two months ago and someone needs to tell Luis (last night's HR notwithstanding). I'd almost rather see Ty Kelly than another minute of Villar.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 This is just fucking pathetic.Nothing off the bat in this series (or the last one for that matter) even resembles a hit including the few hits they do have (7 in 15 innings). If it weren't for walks and grounders to Bohm we wouldn't have any baserunners.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 But while the game itself is horrid, ar least it's long and slow. Over 2-1/2 hours just to get through six
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Author Posted August 7, 2021 McCann is Nido but making way more money.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 This is the type of game where new owner Steve Cohen goes ballistic and in mid season lops off a few heads.Could not blame him.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Wow, this offense is really inept. Frustrating to watch. Being a Mets fan, I should be accustomed to it by now,
