Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Are they broadcasting the induction ceremonies? Has Jon Matlack been sitting in a jar on Funk & Wagnall's front porch since noon today?
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 They could re-enact the Ralph Garr....NahIn comes Baez down goes deGrom. They should start Pillar in right and McNeil in left with Guillorme at short.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Did not realize Nimmo tweaked his hammy. It never ends. And Conforto does sit.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 It should be tied but Baez brings them close. Awful job by whoever is directing the game for SNY, with a lingering shot of the Apple (who cares, we've seen it) and then showing a replay of Lindor exulting while Baez was taking a curtain call.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Villar simply cannot get picked off there. It's not like he's stealing third.Nice shot by Baez, though.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Listening again on XM. Can Votto keep his streak going?
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 No.I was hoping that the pickoff was not a way for the Reds to steal a run.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 McNeil, Baez, McCann for the tie/win
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Hembree is not showing me anything.Don't try to overdo it, Javier.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Slider after slider off the plate gets Hembree two strikeouts when the team desperately needed anything but strikeouts.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 This asshole hasn't thrown a strike but Baez and McCann gave him help.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 AND A SINGLE TIES IT UP!DOWN TO THE LAST STRIKE!
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 It wasn't Frazier against Doolittle but close.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Yeah Dom! Sean Doolittle, eternally terrible against the Mutts.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in. But now Diaz in a non-save situation.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Gosh, getting Votto to chase is a major league sort of thing.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 When a Met swings at a pitch 6 inches out of the strike zone: how can he swing at that crap? When an opposing hitter swings at a pitch 6 inches out of the strike zone: that's great pitching!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 If we can get to Luis Cessa here, it will mean the Céspedes trade is still paying dividends!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Two things I noticed:1) I think Winker's throw on the winning pitch bounced off the mound and hit Cessa as he was walking off.2) I think celebrating walkoffs by stripping jerseys off may be at least a little dangerous. A jacked up player trying to tear away at the button down from behind can really wrench your shoulder. At least, it kind of looked like Conforto did that to Drury.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 The Mets have lost a lot of winnable games this year. This one felt like a game they should have lost but won instead.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 Jon Matlack saw this win in the making hours, maybe years (48 perhaps), before it became reality. That's http://www.faithandfearinflushing.com/2021/08/01/alls-wall-that-ends-well/my story, at any rate.
