IGT 7/5/21 - Brewers @ Mets - Game #81

The tough road continues because these Brewers is good [22-9 since June 1]

And unlike in past years, these are Brewers can both hit AND pitch (6th best in NL at RS/G, 6th best in RA/G) so less one-dimensional than maybe we're used to.



We're going to go all Tylor Megill on them while they counter with Brandon Woodruff, a 28 y/o 5th year RH drafted in the 11th round draft pick in 2014 [Miss St U]

who has turned a corner for them and turned in 16 starts; 7-3; 1.87 ERA; 0.78 WHIP in 2021

They've got three of the most exciting starting pitchers in all of baseball and the unhittable reliever Josh Hader who's like the Jacob deGrom of relievers with a 750 ERA+.

I'm becoming very impressed w/Megill. His minor league numbers hint that he's got the goods, but if the Mets think he's punching above his weight at all, this dude is currently a helluva trade chip.

So either Lindor's bunt "worked" in that the run scored even without benefit of a hit, ...

or it didn't in that it almost assured the team that a leadoff double would lead to no more than one run.

I'm beginning to feel like we may never see Conforto get another hit.

It may have worked, but I want Lindor swinging in that situation. He's not getting $341 million to bunt.



And Conforto needs to sit. It's just not happening for him right now.

I like Loup against righties. He keeps it down and uses both sides nicely.



Against lefties, as tough as he is, I'm always afraid he's gonna hit the batter.

Pillar's been squeezed out by Nimmo, so I'm OK with a Pillforto platoon for a bit.
