Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 30, 2021 Author Posted June 30, 2021 Man, Szapucki is pitching with stains in his shorts.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 30, 2021 Author Posted June 30, 2021 I never like bringing long men in in the middle of the inning.Throw Joe Sambito or some other traditional-but-expendable guy out there to stop the bleeding or die trying, and then let the long man start fresh the next inning. This goes double if your long man is a minor league starter not used to coming in in the middle of an inning. And triple if it's his first time out there.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Positive notes: We tagged out one of the two Atlanta runners who essentially gave themselves up between 3rd & home
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Thomas Szapucki: a pitcher Don Rickles would've loved.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Not a fan of Alonso laughing and chuckling it up with Freeman down by four.I would. It's freakin' baseball and barring a horrible injury, Alonso's gonna be as "rich as Rockefeller" in a coupl'a years while he's still in his freakin' 20s. Not that Alonso's hurtin' for dough right now.Said nothing about money. If you're ok with him yucking it up the enemy, then we now know one more thing about your dollars and sense of things.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 30, 2021 Author Posted June 30, 2021 It would be cool if the Braves would at least send Sandoval out on defense tonight.

I know you didn't say anything about money. So what? What does that have to do with anything? I'm the one who introduced money into the discussion. My post wasn't about money either, even though I did mention money. What I'm saying is that the guy's on top of the world. Your post resonated with me because I saw the movie Moneyball last week on cable TV. I'd seen it before. Maybe twice. And last week, the scene that stuck out for me was when an A's player was acting ubpeat and happy in the locker room following an A's loss. The Billy Beane character (Brad Pitt) walks by and has a fit when he sees this. He throws stuff all over the place and browbeats the player. "Is losing fun? No? Then why are you having fun?"And I couldn't relate to Beane. Maybe it's my age. But Beane's reaction made no sense to me. I don't see how one thing neessarily has anything to do with the other. I don't see how listening and grooving to your music means you don't care about the loss. At that moment, Beane's reaction felt idiotic to me.Your post triggered that reaction.I used money as a substitute for "two superstars on top of the world". I'm sure they'll both lose this night's sleep over the fact that you're not happy with their socializing. Call Bob Gibson. Now you know one more thing about me, whatever that is. Write it down in the psycho book that you keep that's all about me.

Made me wonder if that's a specific reaction to the Billy Beane/Jeremy Giambi scene.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 30, 2021 Author Posted June 30, 2021 Well, he's out of the game now.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 30, 2021 Author Posted June 30, 2021 Well, I got most of the baseball cards before Gary and Ron did.I don't think they're gonna hire me.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 30, 2021 Author Posted June 30, 2021 Are we gonna get a position player on the mound this inning?
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Well, that's what I get wishing for a blowout win.Sometimes you almost get what you wish for.My bad.Later
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 So Szapucki goes back to SYR after the game? They can't use him for two days now so they might as well get another body in the bullpen.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 I called it as a loss a mess of innings ago. Hard pass.
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Not a fan of Alonso laughing and chuckling it up with Freeman down by four.I've been thinking about this when I've watched Mets-Braves games this season. When Albies got his RBI single back in the first, he and Pete were yucking it up at 1B. A couple of weeks ago when Nido got hit, Freeman went down the line to check on him, and when Nido took his base, it looked to me like Freeman said something like "tough break, I've been there". The rivalry seems friendlier than it was in the days of Larry Jones.Nothing wrong with that. It's not like the Mets were going to start scoring runs if Szapucki threw a fast one at Freeman's head. On the other hand, the Mets and Phillies always seem to be on the verge of beating the crap out of each other as soon as they take the field.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Luis Guillorme about to wreak Schaefer ballot havoc by pitching.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 30, 2021 Author Posted June 30, 2021 Guillorme to the mound. He went into the dugout for another glove, but his new glove seems to have an open webbing too.
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 He hits like a pitcher. Let's see if he can pitch like one.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 30, 2021 Author Posted June 30, 2021 Almora hasn't thrown a strike yet.
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Szapucki looks pissed off for reals. Probably the only person left on the planet still taking this game seriously.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 30, 2021 Author Posted June 30, 2021 Maybe Almora is just trying to delay his release.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Maybe the Braves will be extra tired from running so much.
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 I just noticed "Almora" is an anagram for "Alomar". Pretty obvious. Just never thought about it before.
